Position Summary

The Server Assistant bridges the busser and server roles, supporting the service team with food and beverage running, course coordination, table maintenance, and direct guest support. This role is central to the rhythm and polish of fine-dining service. The ideal candidate is attentive, quick on their feet, and eager to grow into a Server role while delivering an exceptional guest experience.

Compensation

$5.50 per hour base wage plus tips. This is a tipped position and an Ohio tip credit applies; combined cash wages and tips are guaranteed to equal at least Ohio’s full minimum wage of $11.00 per hour, and typically exceed it substantially with tips.

Key Responsibilities

Service Support

  • Support Servers in delivering attentive, seamless, fine-dining service
  • Assist with seating, water and tea service, bread or amuse delivery, and initial guest needs
  • Maintain table organization, replace utensils, and reset between courses

Food & Beverage Running

  • Deliver food and beverages accurately, to the correct guest and seat, with proper presentation
  • Communicate course timing and special requests between the kitchen and service team
  • Ensure dishes are run promptly to maintain temperature and quality

Table & Course Management

  • Clear and reset tables neatly and efficiently between courses and after departures
  • Anticipate guest needs and refresh service items proactively
  • Help maintain pacing and flow throughout the dining experience

Coordination & Teamwork

  • Communicate effectively with Servers, Hosts, Runners, Bussers, and Management
  • Support pre-service setup, side work, and station readiness
  • Assist the FOH team with tasks as needed to ensure seamless service

Standards & Safety

  • Provide warm, discreet, and professional guest assistance
  • Maintain a polished appearance and professional demeanor at all times
  • Follow all sanitation, hygiene, and safety protocols

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of restaurant or hospitality experience (fine dining preferred but not required)
  • Strong work ethic and ability to stay focused during busy service periods
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and multitasking skills
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness and presentation
  • Professional presentation and positive attitude
  • Willingness to learn Japanese service styles and fine-dining standards
