Job Summary

Foreman III positions are customized based upon established role and need in area of responsibility. Foreman III duties may include employee supervision or functional accountability for an assigned responsibility, area, or organizational unit.

Essential Functions
  • Foreman III essential functions vary and are based upon role
  • Supervising other foreman and/or mechanics
  • New operations involving special projects or work such as safety, materials, or regulatory compliance
  • Existing operations where special knowledge is required, greater flexibility is needed, or the operation or work is being reorganized
  • Training for entry into non-agreement positions
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must successfully complete training and attain/retain certifications applicable to assigned job.
  • Leadership, decision making, and team building skills
  • Organizational and problem solving skills
  • Understanding and working knowledge of various mechanical craft duties
  • Demonstrated computer skills
  • Ability to read, write and communicate proficiently
  • Must have a valid and current driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of accepted railroad quality standards preferred
  • Knowledge and skill in the use of electrical tools, equipment, and the measurements necessary to meet established standards
  • Some college or technical school and/or journeyman qualification preferred
  • Some supervisory experience in an operating environment preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical and/or mechanical systems preferred
  • Some knowledge and experience related to safety program methodology and its application
  • Demonstrated experience in working with WMS, SAP, ARROW, and other Amtrak automated programs preferred
  • Experience in the maintenance of railroad equipment preferred
Communications and Interpersonal Skills

Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.

The hourly range is $47.55 - $47.55 (with opportunity for increases, as per the applicable collective bargaining agreement, after beginning employment).
