Job Summary

Direct and oversee all passenger and train-related activities within a designated division, ensuring efficient and passenger-focused station operations in compliance with company policies. Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to station employees for optimal daily performance. Manage staff engaged in passenger services, including boarding, baggage handling, ticketing, passenger assistance, and station maintenance. Ensure safe and efficient station operations, optimizing employee performance, passenger service, and on-time performance. Respond to customer needs and issues, both in-person and through formal correspondence. Manage station budgets, staffing, payroll, and support services to maximize passenger provision and achieve financial and service delivery objectives.

This position is a tiered position. Incumbents will have a position level assigned based on their skills and experience, and in alignment with position development plans. Position placement is at Amtrak's sole and absolute discretion.

Essential Functions
  • Oversee station service operations within an assigned area, prioritizing passenger satisfaction and achieving optimal customer service levels.
  • Manage passenger interaction processes to ensure safety, satisfaction, and adherence to on-time performance standards.
  • Enforce corporate policies and procedures related to customer service, safety, security, accounting, and uniform standards among station service staff.
  • Supervise and develop station service employees, including training, performance measurement, counseling, and disciplinary actions.
  • Serve as a liaison with other departments to coordinate and resolve service issues, including train delays, equipment problems, and service disruptions, ensuring passenger accommodation and crew availability.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience. 
  • Plus 2 year of relevant work experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Extensive management experience in passenger handling, service delivery, and station operations
  • Proficient in administering contracts related to station operations
  • Demonstrate leadership in managing diverse teams with innovative management skills
  • Proven track record of effectively managing station operations and budgets
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, for effective collaboration
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, safety programs, and Amtrak labor agreements

The position has a target salary of $103,400 for Station Manager I and $108,400 for the Station Manager II. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee's assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee's base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
