We bring the strength of more than 100 years of experience and renowned engineering expertise to meet the needs of today’s mission and stay ahead of tomorrow’s threat. Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world.

An exciting opportunity exists at Raytheon for an engineering manager to join our semiconductor foundry engineering leadership team within the Advanced Microelectronics Solutions (AMS) Department.

The Etch Section Lead in this role would be responsible for directing a group of skilled etch process engineers to fabricate advanced microelectronic devices in accordance with various technology roadmaps in support of Raytheon Technologies business pursuits. The section lead is expected to be able to coordinate and lead and engineering team working within a 24/7 foundry environment over 5 shifts. These road maps consist of both near term efforts on the cusp of transition-to-production, as well as longer term development efforts that maintain a pipeline of innovation. The ideal candidate will have experience in III-V semiconductor processing, preferably in GaAs, GaN or GaSb. Technical knowledge of both development and sustainment of dry and wet etch processes is critical in order to guide the team and direct the technical roadmaps.

They will review and oversee project schedules and cost, determine team priorities, review process changes, identify and champion process improvement opportunities, work to improve process yields, and interface with operations management. They will facilitate the effective allocation of team resources in ways to support the oversight of the foundry processes, assist in identifying future capital investment needs, and foster open communication between functional teams.  Presence on the foundry floor is essential for understanding technical and logistical issues. The role requires a large degree of multitasking with attention to detail while managing priorities depending on the nature of the problems and the commitments to customers and programs.

The candidate should also have Cost Account Manager experience and/or Task Leadership experience.  The candidate will work with the department manager on manpower and resource planning, controlling overhead costs, developing and delivering employee performance reviews, and developing/reviewing proposals. Also, support to management at the Hardware Engineering leadership level and the engineering level is required.

Perhaps most importantly, the candidate must have a willingness to relate to and support the needs of their employees.  The section leader will have a sphere of up to 20 employees who will depend on the section lead to help guide their careers and to maximize their potential and effectiveness.

This role will be 100% on-site and based in Andover, MA.

What You Will Do:
