It may involve cross-disciplinary work, such as marketing & operations or design & strategy, allowing for a dynamic and versatile position. These roles are common in startups, creative industries, and innovation-driven organizations where flexibility and adaptability are valued.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in an ampersand (media or advertising technology) role, and how can they overcome them?

Professionals in ampersand roles, particularly within media and advertising technology, often encounter challenges such as rapidly evolving digital platforms, tight campaign deadlines, and the need to coordinate across multiple teams (sales, marketing, data analytics, and clients). Building strong project management skills and fostering collaborative relationships within the team can help ensure successful campaign execution and professional growth.

Job description

Our Mission
At Ampersand, we are building scalable integration infrastructure that delivers real-time context to AI agents in seconds. Our declarative platform, 150+ open-source connectors, and embeddable UI components give developers the building blocks they need to ship deep, bidirectional integrations.
We power cutting-edge AI companies like 11x, Orb, Square, and Crunchbase. Almost every engineering team that has evaluated us against other solutions has chosen to use Ampersand. As our product and brand evolve, we're looking for great people to join our experienced team of former Firebase, AWS, Meta and Square engineers and operators.
About Us
Ampersand was founded in 2022 by Ayan Barua and Lauren Long - two engineers and repeat founders with a rare combination of developer tools and SaaS experience. You can learn more about our full team here.
We've raised Series A funding from top-tier investors known for their early-stage bets on generational companies like Anthropic, Apple, Twilio, Supabase, and Vercel.
Together, we believe:
  • This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build the connectivity infrastructure for AI. Seizing this moment requires passion, hard work, and continuous learning. At the same time, this is a marathon, not a sprint.
  • Velocity comes from great strategic decisions, not doing the 99 things you don't have to do.
  • In five core values that shape how we work every day: Craft, Customer Empathy, Ownership Mindset, Velocity, and Humility.
The Role
We're hiring a Product Engineer to shape the user experience of a platform used by some of the most technically sophisticated teams in software and AI.
This is a foundational role. You'll work closely with the founders, engineers, and customers to design experiences for complex, developer-facing workflows - and help establish the design standards the product will be built on from here. The team is small, the ownership is real, and the people you'll work with care deeply about craft. If you do your best work when the problems are hard and what you ship actually matters, then this is the environment for it.
What You'll Own
  • Dashboard - The dashboard is the command center that Ampersand customers go to to manage and troubleshoot their integrations. It serves engineers, product managers, and customer enablement teams. You will work on the dashboard experience, including how it looks, feels, and functions.
  • UI library - The Ampersand UI library is a set of embeddable React components and hooks that Ampersand customers put into their application for their customers to set up their integrations. Because it is a part of our customer's product experiences and frontend stack, there are unique technical and UX challenges to ensure that it is composable, flexible and seamlessly fit into our user's UI.
  • UI Prototyping - You have the freedom to come up with idea and rapidly prototype them using AI tools. You don't need to wait for mocks or get buy in from a designer. You need to have great taste and intuition.
  • Customer Engagement - Talk directly to customers - user testing sessions, support questions, feedback gathering. Let what you hear shape what you build.
  • Full Stack Feature Development - Own the full loop: design, implementation, documentation, and customer communication. No throwing work over the fence. You are not afraid to dive into the backend and make PRs to unblock yourself.
  • Frontend Performance - Our dashboard is data-intensive, and you will work to ensure that the experience feels snappy and delightful.
What You'll Bring
  • 4+ years engineering and designing digital products, ideally in B2B SaaS, developer tools, enterprise software, or technical products
  • Strong React skills with full-stack range (bonus if you have a genuine willingness to go deep in Go on the backend)
  • You are AI-forward and love trying new AI tools. You think of yourself not as a coder, but as a builder who harnesses AI to multiply their productivity.
  • Strong communication skills; you can articulate design decisions and push back when something isn't right. Engineers here write their own feature docs and own their decisions
  • Great taste in what makes developer tools intuitive; ideally you've shipped customer-facing developer products before
  • Strong product intuition - you can work directly with customers to design features, not just implement specs

The Perks
  • Competitive salary and equity
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Free lunch on in-office days (Mon/Tue/Thu)
  • 401(k) with company match, commuter benefits, HSA
  • Up to 4 weeks PTO
  • Team socials and retreats
