Pathway Therapy Center is seeking an Associate Therapist (AMFT) to join our growing team in Walnut Creek. This role is ideal for a motivated clinician who is eager to gain hands-on experience in an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) while building a long-term caseload in a highly specialized and in-demand field.
We have an immediate need for in-person coverage of psychoeducational sessions within our IOP, making this a great opportunity for associates looking to gain structured program experience right away, with a clear path toward expanding into individual, couples, and group therapy work.
Pathway specializes in treating sex and pornography addiction, betrayal trauma, and related relational issues, and provides a high level of training, support, and clinical collaboration.
Position Overview
- Location: Walnut Creek, CA (in-person required)
- Schedule: Part-time to start, with growth to full-time as caseload builds
- Primary Initial Focus:
- Lead psychoeducational IOP sessions (immediate need)
- Growth Path Includes:
- Building an individual and couples caseload
- Facilitating therapy groups
Key Responsibilities
- Lead structured psychoeducational sessions within the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
- Build and manage a caseload of individual clients and couples over time
- Facilitate weekly therapy groups
- Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation (progress notes, treatment plans)
- Collaborate closely with the clinical team to ensure high-quality care
- Participate in team meetings, consultation, and case coordination
- Engage in networking and referral-building activities as caseload develops
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Marriage & Family Therapy or related field
- Registered Associate (AMFT) in the state of California (current and in good standing)
- Available for in-person work in Walnut Creek
- Strong interest in working with:
- Addiction (especially process addictions)
- Couples and relational dynamics
- Betrayal trauma
- Highly organized, reliable, and able to follow structured curriculum (especially for IOP work)
- Self-starter with initiative and follow-through
- Growth-oriented with a willingness to be challenged clinically and personally
- Interest in pursuing CSAT certification through International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals
Preferred (Not Required)
- Experience with group therapy or psychoeducational programming
- Exposure to addiction treatment models
