Job description

Associate Marriage & Family Therapist (AMFT) – Part-Time


Serenity Treatment Center is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and clinically motivated Associate Marriage & Family Therapist (AMFT) to join our clinical team on a part-time employee basis.

This position is ideal for an AMFT looking to strengthen their clinical skills while working as part of a collaborative treatment team. The therapist will provide direct clinical services to clients, including individual, family, and group psychotherapy, while supporting treatment planning, care coordination, crisis intervention, and discharge planning.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group therapy to assigned clients.
  • Facilitate family involvement in treatment when clinically appropriate and authorized by the client.
  • Maintain regular communication with families, outside providers, and other members of the client's support system as appropriate.
  • Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR), including same-day progress notes.
  • Participate in treatment planning and coordinate care with psychiatric, medical, case management, and other outside providers.
  • Monitor client participation and engagement in the treatment program.
  • Identify and appropriately address behavioral concerns and clinical needs.
  • Assist with crisis intervention and clinical emergencies as needed.
  • Participate in discharge planning and connect clients with appropriate community resources and continuing-care services.
  • Maintain a warm, professional, trauma-informed, and therapeutic approach with clients and families.
  • Collaborate closely with the Clinical Director and other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Maintain client confidentiality and comply with ethical, legal, and organizational standards.


Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, Counseling, or a related behavioral health field.
  • Current registration in California as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) in good standing.
  • Ability to provide individual and group psychotherapy within the scope of AMFT practice and under appropriate clinical supervision.
  • Strong clinical documentation, communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients, families, clinical staff, and outside providers.
  • Comfortable responding appropriately to behavioral concerns, crisis situations, and changing clinical needs.
  • Commitment to trauma-informed, ethical, compassionate, and client-centered care.
  • Ability to meet required health screening, TB screening, CPR, and First Aid requirements.
