Job description

Lead. Inspire. Drive Growth Across the Americas.

Restek is seeking an Americas Sales Director to lead our sales organization across the US, Canada, and Latin America. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role for a leader who is energized by building, someone who arrives with a clear point of view, earns trust before drawing conclusions, and has a track record of designing the commercial operating systems that separate good teams from great ones: pipeline discipline, coaching cadences, territory coverage models, and the review rhythms that keep a region moving with purpose.

Scientific fluency is a genuine differentiator in this seat. Restek’s reputation is built on technical depth, and this Director will be in the field alongside reps, co-traveling, engaging directly with laboratory scientists, and leading a team hired for its expertise. Hands-on experience with GC and LC is what makes those customer conversations credible and those relationships durable.

Restek’s ESOP culture is built on trust, shared ownership, and a genuine commitment to developing people, and this Director will set the tone for what that looks like across the entire Americas sales organization. That means creating an environment where sales managers, individual contributors, and sales support professionals alike feel coached, challenged, and invested in. The right person for this role leads by example, builds a culture of candid and caring feedback, and takes genuine pride in watching the people around them grow.

Reporting to the VP of Sales, you’ll have the autonomy to shape regional strategy, build a world-class team, and make a measurable impact on a globally respected chromatography consumables brand.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Strategy & Growth

  • Develop and execute a regional sales strategy and annual growth plan in collaboration with the VP of Sales.
  • Lead Americas sales programs across direct, distribution, and reseller channels, including customer site visits and support for regional sales managers.
  • Establish and continuously improve the commercial operating cadences (business reviews, sales planning rhythms, and channel frameworks) that drive regional consistency and accountability.
  • Identify and develop new application-based and geographic markets; track industry trends and adjust strategy accordingly.
  • Build and manage annual sales forecasts and operating budgets.
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing to continuously strengthen sales processes, systems, and enablement tools.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Americas sales management team, investing meaningfully in each person’s growth and delivering the kind of direct, honest feedback that helps people reach their potential.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor a high-achieving sales team with clear pathways for career growth.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and deliver ongoing, meaningful feedback.
  • Maintain the right personnel structure and staffing levels to hit objectives efficiently.

Collaboration & Culture

  • Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Product, and Operations to align on business goals and metrics.
  • Help team members plan effectively around key customer locations and growth priorities.
  • Model and communicate Restek’s values (cooperation, innovation, and excellence) at every opportunity.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or business required; MS, MBA, or PhD preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive sales and/or sales management experience.
  • Background in a scientific company, preferably in technical consumables sales.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on laboratory experience with GC and LC: required, not preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record of building and scaling commercial operating systems, not just managing ones already in motion.
  • Advanced coursework or seminars in sales or marketing strategy a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Skills & Abilities

  • Exceptional communicator and negotiator, effective from bench scientist to executive suite.
  • Proven ability to design and implement pipeline discipline, coaching cadences, and territory coverage models that elevate team performance across a complex, multi-channel region.
  • Strong, direct coaching style: gives feedback early, clearly, and constructively; distinguishes between development needs and fit issues.
  • Strong analytical and strategic planning skills with the ability to translate data into action.
  • Outstanding cross-functional relationship-building abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM/database tools.

TRAVEL & LOCATION

This role requires substantial field presence, approximately 45 to 50% of your time in co-travel with sales reps and regional sales managers. That time in the field is where coaching happens, where customer relationships are built, and where your technical credibility pays dividends.

Visits to Restek’s Bellefonte, PA headquarters are expected three to four times per quarter. During your first 90 days, expect that frequency to be higher as you build relationships with internal partners and establish your operating foundation.
