We provide specialty product solutions that cover what the competition often can't.

Headquartered in Amelia, Ohio, and with associates located across the United States, we are part of Munich Re's Global Specialty Insurance division. Our employees receive boundless opportunity to grow their careers and make a difference every day. American Modern Insurance Group offers flexibility with our hybrid work environment. Employees are typically in the office 40-50% of the time to allow for face to face collaboration. We are located in Amelia, OH, a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio.

American Modern is seeking an experienced Liability Claims Adjuster who is ready to take the next step in their claims career. In this role, you will manage moderate to complex bodily injury and liability claims, evaluate coverage, liability, and damages, and negotiate settlements with individuals, attorneys, and insurance carriers. You'll have the opportunity to handle unique specialty insurance exposures while building advanced technical expertise in a collaborative environment backed by Munich Re. Whether your goal is to deepen your claims knowledge or pursue future technical or leadership opportunities, American Modern offers a strong platform for long-term career growth. Depending on experience, candidates may be considered for multiple levels, including Adjuster III, Senior Adjuster, Claim Specialist I, or Claim Specialist II.

What You'll Do:

  • Interpret coverage, conduct investigations, and interview insureds, witnesses, and 3rd party claimants
  • Negotiate settlements with individuals, other insurance carriers and/or attorneys, and process loss settlements
  • Complete appropriate oral, written, and on-line reports to reflect and supplement all file activity
  • Identify, interpret, and address a wide range of regulatory, contractual, and internal compliance requirements while ensuring claims are handled accurately and in accordance with applicable standards
  • Set and maintain adequate reserves on claim files
  • Obtain and review reports, statements, records, and related materials as necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned

You may be a good fit if you have:

  • Three or more years managing Liability Bodily Injury claims, with a proven track record of effectively handling claims characterized by significant complexity and severity
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven research and investigative skills
  • Experience utilizing claims systems, digital documentation tools, and Microsoft Office products
  • Industry related training or coursework such as AIC, CPCU, or SCLA are preferred
  • Self-motivating, results-driven individual, who is comfortable with change
  • Ability and desire to work with limited direction and multi-task in a fast-paced and "team first" environment
  • Good understanding of insurance and medical terminology required
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Proven analytical abilities to review and analyze data

Why You'll Love This Opportunity

  • Handle moderate to complex bodily injury and liability claims
  • Gain exposure to unique specialty insurance products
  • Join a collaborative team backed by Munich Re
  • Grow your technical expertise and negotiation skills
  • Enjoy industry-leading benefits, retirement programs, and career development support

We are proud to offer our employees, their domestic partners, and their children, a wide range of insurance benefits:

  • Two options for your health insurance plan (PPO or High Deductible)
  • Prescription drug coverage (included in your health insurance plan)
  • Vision and dental insurance plans
  • Additional insurance coverages provided at no cost to you, such as basic life insurance equal to 1x annual salary and AD&D coverage that is equal to 1x annual salary
  • Short and Long Term Disability coverage
  • Supplemental Life and AD&D plans that you can purchase for yourself and dependents (includes Spouse/domestic partner and children)
  • Voluntary Benefit plans that supplement your health and life insurance plans (Accident, Critical Illness and Hospital Indemnity)

In addition to the above insurance offerings, our employees also enjoy:

  • A robust 401k plan with up to a 5% employer match
  • A retirement savings plan that is 100% company funded
  • Paid time off that begins with 24 days each year, with more days added when you celebrate milestone service anniversaries
  • Eligibility to receive a yearly bonus as a Munich Re employee
  • A variety of health and wellness programs provided at no cost
