What are Ambulatory Techs?

Ambulatory Techs, also known as Ambulatory Care Technicians, are healthcare professionals who assist with patient care in outpatient or ambulatory care settings, such as clinics or physician offices. They perform a variety of tasks including taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, assisting with procedures, and maintaining medical equipment. Their role supports nurses and physicians by ensuring that patients receive quality care outside of a hospital environment. Ambulatory Techs often interact directly with patients and play a key part in the overall patient experience.

To thrive as an Ambulatory Tech, you need knowledge of basic patient care, vital sign monitoring, and medical terminology, typically supported by a high school diploma and relevant clinical training or certification such as Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Basic Life Support (BLS).
