Is doing an Amazon Relay worth it?

Amazon Relay is a platform for owner-operators and carriers to find freight loads for delivery, often requiring a valid DOT number and insurance. The job involves driving commercial trucks, managing schedules, and maintaining compliance with safety standards. Earnings can vary based on load volume, routes, and operational costs, making it important to evaluate profitability and workload before committing.

What are the requirements for an Amazon Relay?

To work with Amazon Relay, drivers typically need a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) or a state-issued non-CDL license, a registered business entity if operating as an owner-operator, and proper insurance coverage. Additionally, drivers must pass background and vehicle safety checks, have a compliant truck, and meet age and experience requirements as specified by Amazon Relay policies.

Will Amazon pay you $28 an hour to work from home?

Amazon Relay is a logistics platform that connects carriers with delivery opportunities, but it does not typically offer work-from-home jobs paying $28 an hour. Most roles involve driving, dispatching, or operational tasks that require physical presence or specific skills. Pay rates vary depending on the position, location, and experience, but such high hourly rates for remote work are uncommon within Amazon Relay roles.

How much can you make doing an Amazon Relay?

Amazon Relay owner-operators and drivers can earn between $1.50 and $3.00 per mile, with total earnings depending on factors such as load volume, route efficiency, and operating costs. Many drivers report weekly earnings ranging from $1,000 to $3,000, but actual income varies based on experience, schedule, and freight demand.

What is an Amazon Relay job?

An Amazon Relay job involves independent trucking companies and owner-operators hauling freight for Amazon using the Amazon Relay load board. It provides carriers access to a network of Amazon freight, allowing them to book and manage loads efficiently. Amazon Relay offers consistent work, quick payments, and dedicated support to help carriers maximize their earnings. To participate, carriers must meet Amazon's requirements, including insurance and compliance standards.

What does a typical workday look like for an Amazon Relay driver or carrier partner?

A typical day as an Amazon Relay driver or carrier partner involves picking up pre-scheduled loads from Amazon facilities, following optimized routes using the Relay app, and delivering freight to designated drop-off locations. Most assignments use no-touch freight, meaning drivers spend little or no time loading or unloading cargo. Communication with Amazon logistics staff and adherence to tight delivery windows are key parts of the workflow. The role offers flexibility in scheduling, with opportunities for both local and regional routes depending on your preferences and truck capacity. This structure supports independent contractors looking for reliable hauls while maintaining autonomy over their work schedules.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Amazon Relay position, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Amazon Relay driver or carrier partner, you need a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL), a strong understanding of safe truck operation, and knowledge of freight logistics. Familiarity with Amazon’s Relay mobile app for scheduling, GPS navigation, and electronic logging devices (ELDs) is crucial, along with any required DOT certifications. Excellent time management, customer service skills, and reliability set top performers apart in this fast-paced environment. These skills ensure timely and secure delivery of goods, compliance with industry regulations, and a positive partnership with Amazon’s logistics network.
