What is Amazon Private Equity?

Amazon Private Equity typically refers to roles within Amazon that focus on investments, acquisitions, or partnerships with private companies, often as part of Amazon's corporate development or investment teams. While Amazon is not a traditional private equity firm, it does have teams that analyze, invest in, or acquire companies to support Amazon's growth and strategic objectives. These positions involve financial modeling, deal negotiation, due diligence, and post-acquisition integration. Individuals in these roles may work closely with Amazon's leadership to identify opportunities that align with the company's business goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Private Equity professional at Amazon?

To thrive as a Private Equity professional at Amazon, you need strong financial modeling, deal analysis, and due diligence skills, often supported by a degree in finance, business, or a related field. Expertise with tools like Excel, financial databases (e.g., Bloomberg, Capital IQ), and possibly CFA or MBA credentials are highly valued. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and strategic thinking enable effective collaboration and decision-making in complex deal environments. These skills are critical for identifying, evaluating, and executing investments that drive growth and value for Amazon.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in Amazon's Private Equity division, and how can they be addressed?

Job description

About Us
Farsight is the agentic AI platform for financial services, currently helping investment banks and private equity firms fully automate entire, highly nuanced workflows. Today, institutions will spend 80% of their time gathering information for and creating first drafts of materials by hand before iterating on and refining their decks, models, and pitches.
Farsight is partnered with S&P Global and has the opportunity to shape the future of financial services!
Our team comes from Evercore, General Atlantic, Amazon, Hugging Face, founding engineers of other startups, and plenty more!
The Role
Farsight has strong product-market fit, real traction at the most demanding institutions in finance, and a distribution partnership with S&P Global that puts us inside the workflow of hundreds of thousands of investment banking and private equity professionals. What we need now is someone to build the sales motion that turns that momentum into a repeatable, scalable revenue machine.
As VP of Sales, you will own Farsight's revenue. You will build and lead the sales team, define the go-to-market motion, and personally close the most strategic deals. You will work directly with our CEO, the Strategy & Ops team, and our GTM team to develop the pipeline, refine the pitch, and bring in the customers that define Farsight's next chapter.
This is a founding sales leadership role. The person who takes this seat will shape how Farsight goes to market, builds its sales culture, and scales from double-digit customers to hundreds.
What You'll Do
  • Own Farsight's revenue number and be accountable for hitting it
  • Build, hire, and lead a high-performing sales team from the ground up, starting with SDRs and AEs
  • Personally lead and close strategic enterprise deals at bulge bracket banks, elite boutiques, and top-tier PE firms
  • Define and refine Farsight's sales motion, playbook, and process from first contact to close
  • Partner closely with the StratOps team to ensure seamless handoff from sales to customer success
  • Work with product and engineering to translate customer feedback into roadmap input
  • Develop pricing and packaging strategy in partnership with leadership
  • Build relationships at the most senior levels of Farsight's target accounts
  • Represent Farsight at industry events and in market conversations that drive awareness and pipeline
  • Report directly to CEO with full visibility into company strategy and direction

What We're Looking For
  • 8+ years of enterprise sales experience with at least 3 years in a sales leadership role
  • Proven track record closing complex, high-value enterprise deals in financial services, enterprise software, or AI
  • Deep understanding of investment banking and private equity workflows, either from selling into this market or from direct experience in it
  • Experience building and scaling a sales team from early stage through growth
  • Exceptional relationship builder who can earn the trust of senior bankers, partners, and CIOs
  • Strong commercial instincts around pricing, positioning, and deal structure
  • Comfortable operating at a fast-moving Series A startup where you are building the playbook, not following one
  • NYC-based and committed to in-person collaboration

Above and Beyond Qualifications
  • Prior experience selling AI or data products into financial services
  • Existing relationships at major investment banks or PE firms
  • Experience navigating procurement and compliance at large financial institutions
  • Prior experience as a first sales hire or head of sales at a startup that scaled successfully

Compensation
  • Base Salary: $175,000 to $225,000. Commensurate with experience
    • On-Target Earnings (OTE): $350,000 to $450,000 (60/40 base-to-variable split)
    • Variable Structure:
      • Commission tied to ARR closed
      • Accelerators for performance above quota
      • Renewal and expansion bonuses tied to net revenue retention
  • Equity: Meaningful early-stage package with standard vesting (4 year/1-year cliff)
  • Comprehensive medical, dental and vision insurance
  • Unlimited PTO
