The Worldwide Process Engineering Innovation team is searching for an innovative and solutions-oriented engineering leader to lead the initiative of developing and delivering next generation, world-class delivery stations. This is a unique opportunity at a critical juncture in Amazon's growth to drive end to end product delivery from inception to execution. We are looking for a hands-on leader with experience managing new product and process development for high dollar value programs. In this role, you will collaborate with internal and external teams to design high-quality, cost-effective solutions for our last mile delivery systems.
To be successful in this role you will need to be able to influence and work with senior leaders across multiple organizations and geographies. You will work with organizations such as Worldwide (WW) Engineering and Design, WW Tech SME, Last Mile Delivery and Tech as well as Operations to innovate at scale and drive the development roadmap. You will manage large, complex initiatives, and advocate on behalf of the customer to develop the next generation of AMZL delivery station.
You will work with a team of highly skilled and highly engaged engineers in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment. Our team works on the medium and long term, incremental and radical innovation of process infrastructure, layout and standards for launch and legacy delivery stations. You will be challenged; you will learn; you will work on high impact, high visibility projects; you will grow.
Key job responsibilities
-Lead idea generation for innovative design/process solutions to existing operational problems
-Create documentation to share innovative design/process solutions, process maps, design standards, etc.
-Generate structured plan to turn innovative design/process solutions from ideas to assessment, pilot and finally expansion.
-Own and deliver against plans, providing network reporting, financial approval and leadership approval for all stages of program progression.
-Act as SME expert in area of ownership, providing expertise to other Engineering teams, alongside providing challenge for suppliers and partners.
-Build large-scale business proposals based on innovation designs for WW Ops Engineering, often with ambiguity; collaborate with WHS, Planning, Launch, Procurement, Finance, HR, external partners and product teams to ensure project completion (on time and within budget).
-Ensure customer satisfaction by following through with requests and ensuring needs are met as accurately and immediately as possible.
-Own internal process innovations across the Engineering Org, including owning road-mapping and planning for given area of responsibility and ensuring roadmap is delivered.
-Up to 50% regional and WW travel depending on business needs.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or above in engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years of design & innovation, research & development work experience
- 5+ years of integration, testing and automation experience
- Experience in management of engineering design projects
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience designing solutions for large, high-volume sorting operations
- Master's degree in engineering, mechanical, operations, supply chain, business administration, or equivalent STEM field
- Experience in Lean Management, Six Sigma and other operations engineer tools
