Job description

Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. From individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.
Leo Customer Terminal Engineering is looking for an individual who will join our antenna design team. This role is primarily focused on small antenna design across a variety of technologies and device form-factors. You will be responsible for the design, optimization and validation of high performance antennas in a dynamic and fast-paced development environment. Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and experience with mass-production consumer electronics are an asset. A background with EM simulation software (CST, HFSS, FEKO) and experience correlating simulation to measurement results is critical.
Key job responsibilities
• EM simulation and modeling to inform expected antenna performance and required antenna volumes.
• Antenna prototyping and correlation of measurement and simulation.
• Element tuning and optimization.
• Antenna location and interoperability assessments to ensure desense free performance.
• Passive and active antenna characterization.
• Compilation of antenna performance reports and presentation to senior leadership.
• Cross-functional collaboration with mechanical, electrical, layout, ID, regulatory compliance and PM teams.
• Factory test station and debug support for hardware builds.
• Experience with Finite Element Analysis tools (e.g. Solidworks) to evaluate structural and thermal performance of antenna designs and how these designs will interact with the overall product assembly.
• This role will require travel.
Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 4+ years of antenna design related to 3G/4G technologies , Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth products experience
- Knowledge of antenna fundamental and radiation theory EM simulation experience
- Experience with prototyping and implementation
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
- Antenna and RF test and measurement expertise
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis tools
- Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume
- Master's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
