Job description

Amazon DocumentDB is a fast, scalable, highly available, and fully managed document database service that supports MongoDB workloads. As a document database, Amazon DocumentDB makes it easy to store, query, and index JSON data.
Amazon DocumentDB is a non-relational database service designed from the ground-up to give you the performance, scalability, and availability you need when operating mission-critical MongoDB workloads at scale. In Amazon DocumentDB, the storage and compute are decoupled, allowing each to scale independently, and you can increase the read capacity to millions of requests per second by adding up to 15 low latency read replicas in minutes, regardless of the size of your data.
Amazon DocumentDB is designed for 99.99% availability and replicates six copies of your data across three AWS Availability Zones (AZs)

You can use AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) for free (for six months) to easily migrate your on-premises or Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) MongoDB databases to Amazon DocumentDB with virtually no downtime.
As Director of Engineering for DocumentDB, you will be responsible for leading a group of top talent in the design and development of a product that enables customers to run MongoDB compatible workloads at scale, as a managed service on AWS. You'll also own the business strategy, P&L, and roadmap for the service and will be responsible for all aspects of its end to end engineering and growth.
Leading the Amazon DocumentDB team gives you the opportunity to:
Work on a disruptive product that's in rapid growth stage
Solve challenging problems that will enable customers to manage JSON-style data at scale, using the most popular document database API.
Build a product that will leverage the scale of resources available in the cloud.
Work for a company that's a recognized leader in the cloud computing space.
Be involved in the fast growing, big data space.
Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for the future of DocumentDB
Key job responsibilities
Growing and leading a software development team responsible for building a key AWS non-relational database service.
You will develop the design, implementation, testing and deployment of the service.
You will draw from your deep and broad technical and management expertise to mentor senior engineers and managers, complete hands-on technical work and provide leadership on complex technical issues, design tradeoffs, and feature and schedule prioritization.
This is one of our most strategic database projects with a long-term vision and an opportunity to deliver both significant business growth and customer impact.
As an engineering and business leader within Database Services, you will work with senior executives to develop business targets and resource requirements, influence our technical and business strategy, help hire talented engineers and managers, and conceive innovative new solutions for our customers.
