Job description

Amazon's Worldwide Grocery Stores is seeking a Store Designer to join the Retail Growth & Development, Enterprise team.
We are an exciting, fast-moving business unit, where everyone on the team needs to be entrepreneurial, wear many hats and work effectively in a highly collaborative environment. You are the right person for this job if you are a creative problem solver with curiosity and drive for learning and a passion for customers. This role efficiently drives multiple projects throughout all phases of design, permitting and construction administration. We are looking for people who want to join an ambitious, innovative and customer obsessed program.
Key job responsibilities
- Translate brand design standards and concepts in an innovative yet fiscally responsible way.
- Work across a large portfolio and multiple banners with a diverse set of programs.
- Manage the design process, interfacing with internal and external design partners.
- Adapt site specific conditions metrics and standards to store designs.
- Build data driven scope of work with internal stake holders, focused on servicing operating stores.
- Develop FF&E and Décor packages.
- Work with key internal and external stakeholders in the development and production of comprehensive design development packages.
- Create presentation packages to communicate design with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
- Drive and create Schematic Design Packages.
- Coordinate with Construction, Procurement and Operations Teams on budget and schedule considerations and value engineering efforts.
- Manage consultants throughout all phases of design through the project lifecycle.
- Provide Construction Administrative support as needed.
- Archive completed drawings, redlines, and shop drawings.
- Obtain landlord approvals per lease requirements.
- Review and approves submittals and shop drawings.
- Knowledge of building and health codes, 3D visualization, and industry trends.
- Communicate design vision in visual, written, and verbal formats.
- Manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Solutions oriented, proactive and flexible, willingness to take an "all hands-on deck" approach.
- Work effectively in an extremely fast paced, ambiguous environment
A day in the life
This position will work closely with cross-functional teams, external consultants and vendors throughout the store development process. Oversight of consultant performance is critical. This role communicates with business partners at every level, including leadership.

The Amazon Worldwide Retail Growth & Development, Enterprise Team leads the transformation of our existing multi-banner grocery locations through strategic remodels and innovations. We enhance the shopping experience by modernizing store layout, improving operational efficiency, and implementing the latest technology, all while stores remain open for business. Our customer-obsessed design approach focuses on creating seamless shopping experiences for both in-store and online customers, while ensuring our operations teams can work safely and efficiently during and after remodels. We specialize in executing complex renovations that elevate the Amazon experience across our established store network.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of retail or operations experience
- Experience managing multiple complex projects and adapting to change
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with end-to-end ownership of major project deliverables
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite
- Grocery or Retail Experience
- Architectural or Interior Design FF&E Experience

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
