About Our Family

We are a busy, high-functioning family of three (plus one very loved French bulldog) relocating to Edina this summer. Both parents work demanding professional roles, with one based remotely and the other frequently traveling for work. Our daughter is an active, independent middle schooler with a full schedule that includes equestrian competition, after-school activities, and all the social adventures that come with being a tween.

Finding the right fit for our daughter is especially important to us. We're looking for someone who can strike that sweet spot between having the fun, approachable energy of a great camp counselor while also providing the maturity, guidance, and gentle oversight that helps a middle schooler continue to grow with confidence and independence.

Our household runs best when there is structure, clear communication, and someone who takes pride in keeping things moving without being asked twice. Together, we run a fast-paced household and are looking for someone who can bring calm, competence, and consistency to the mix. This is a fresh start in a new city, and we are excited to build new systems and rhythms with the right person by our side.

Who You Are / What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is someone who leads with initiative, communicates proactively, and genuinely enjoys being part of a household that is always in motion. You are not afraid to ask questions, you do not wait to be told what needs doing, and you understand that two-way communication is the foundation of a great working relationship. You are warm and relatable around tweens, and you bring a level of professionalism and maturity that earns trust quickly. You are organized by nature, take pride in a well-run home, and can hold a lot of moving pieces at once without losing your footing. A long-term commitment matters to this family, and they are looking for someone who is genuinely excited to grow into this role.

Key ResponsibilitiesFamily Support
  • School drop-off 2 to 3 days per week (7:30AM-8:30AM)
  • Afternoon school pickups, transport to after-school activities and friends' homes
  • Light after-school oversight: homework check, snack prep, school bag preparation
  • Occasional outings with the daughter on school-free days (mall, parks, etc.)
  • Occasional evening babysitting support for date nights (a bonus, not a requirement)
  • Assist with packing and travel prep for equestrian shows and other trips
  • Appointment coordination for the daughter (orthodontist, dentist, haircuts)
  • Help research and coordinate occasional travel logistics related to horse shows (hotels, flights)
Household Organization & Maintenance
  • Help establish organizational systems in the new apartment from the ground up
  • Daily resets: light tidying, dishes, wiping surfaces, vacuuming high-traffic areas
  • Prepare home ahead of cleaning visits
  • Fridge management: rotate items and discard expired food regularly
  • Support daughter in maintaining an organized room (collaborative, not directive)
  • Manage and coordinate donation drop-offs during decluttering
  • Maintain a shared household calendar (Skylight or Google Calendar) to keep the whole family aligned
  • Direct communication with building maintenance as needed
Inventory & Errands
  • Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies based on a running inventory list
  • Grocery shopping
  • Manage household orders and subscriptions (Amazon, Costco, Target, etc.)
  • Handle returns, dry cleaning drop-off and pickup, and occasional gift shopping
  • Mail and package handling; break down and recycle boxes
Meal Support
  • Produce prep: wash and portion for easy access
  • Coordinate with the family weekly to identify which evenings they will be home and what support is needed
  • Prepare 2 to 3 dinners per week (Trader Joe's-style approachable meals welcome)
  • Batch-cook a few breakfast options for the daughter each week
  • Keep healthy snacks consistently stocked and ready
Laundry & Linens
  • Full laundry cycle: wash, dry, fold, and put away
  • Maintain a tidy and well-stocked laundry area
Pet Care
  • Feed and walk the family dog during working hours
  • Maintain and restock pet supplies
Vendor & Property Oversight
  • Coordinate vendor scheduling and appointments for the Michigan property (repair appointments, landscapers, etc.) requiring remote oversight and on-site coordination
  • Serve as a point of contact for maintenance needs at the Edina residence
