Job description

The Amazon Operations Corporate Employee Relations (ER) & Field Enablement team supports Amazon operations corporate employees and field leaders, and we are seeking an Employee Relations Principal to join our team.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to:
Assessment & Analysis
- Quickly evaluate data, workplace dynamics, behaviors, and relationships to identify risks and gaps in the work environment
Strategic Program Development
- Develop and execute sustainable, scalable initiatives, mechanisms, and programs that drive long-lasting change at all levels of the organization
Leadership & Influence
- Influence leaders to secure alignment, build support, and cultivate change agents across the business
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop a team of employee relations professionals
ER/LR Expertise
- Possess significant employee relations expertise, excellent judgment, and highly developed analytical and communication skills.
The Principal reports directly to an Employee Relations Director and serves as a key member of the Operations Corporate Employee Relations team. The successful candidate must be capable of traveling domestically at least 50% of the time with potential for additional travel when necessary, and at times with short notice.
Key job responsibilities
• Risk Detection and Mitigation: Apply employee relations expertise to successfully identify trends and challenges, predict and mitigate risk, and develop and execute solution-focused strategies and programs
• Detect and Mitigate Risks: Apply employee relations expertise to successfully identify trends, gaps, and challenges; execute solution-focused strategies and programs to mitigate risks.
• Crisis Management: Work reactively on crisis-oriented issues under time limitations while exercising excellent judgment and leadership
• Project Management: Independently design, own, and lead successfully large-scale, network-wide projects that improve frontline employee and contractor experience.
• Analyze and Interpret Data: Exercise strong analytical skills using data and anecdotes to develop persuasive narratives and recommendations; demonstrated ability to define and measure success of programs
• Artificial Intelligence (AI): Use AI tools and technologies to analyze data, automate routine tasks, and develop improve processes.
• Communicate Effectively: Rapidly produce high-quality execute level written communications that concisely analyze problems and move solutions from concept to execution. Effectively present verbally to all levels of the organization.
• Collaborate: Build constructive relationships with critical stakeholders to share information and influence change.
• Problem Solve: Work independently with minimal supervision, in ambiguous situations, and persevere over internal and external barriers to drive resolutions.
• Work at Scale: Design solutions for a single person, site, station, or situation then translate, design, and launch sustainable mechanisms for entire networks.
• Deliver Innovative Solutions: Challenge current practices, industry status quo, and generate creative mechanisms that bring about large-scale solutions.
• Campaign Strategy: Develop communication and tactical campaign strategy as well as lead team of tactical execution.
• Lead Through Others: Build constructive relationships with critical stakeholders and peers to share information, influence change, and leverage resources to deliver results.
• Hire & Develop the Best: Lead the development and growth of our field employee relations team. This role may have direct reports including Employee Relations Specialists, Managers and/or Principals.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience producing executive-level written materials and presenting to executive audiences
- Experience creating and implementing large-scale programs
- Experience analyzing and using metrics to identify vulnerabilities and drive improvements in the employee
- 10+ years of relevant experience in employee relations, labor relations, labor/employment law OR 10+ years of relevant experience to include 1+ years of Amazon experience and one or more short term assignments within Amazon employee relations.
- Experience in leading campaign response.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience within a distribution center, logistics, or manufacturing environment
- Experience supporting large hourly workforces
- Experience with MS Excel, Word, SharePoint & PowerPoint
- Advanced degree, JD, or other specialized training in labor/employee relations
- Internal Amazon experience in Operations, Human Resources/PXT, or other functional partner teams.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in managing multiple and competing priorities.
- People leadership experience including hiring and developing talent.
- Works well in a fast-paced environment, flexible, able to change direction quickly and manage projects through ambiguity and constant change.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, able to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously while delivering on commitments.
- Outstanding communication skills in written and verbal form; extensive public speaking, training, and/or leadership communication skills.
- Solid sense of accountability, high-quality judgment and sound decision-making.
- Ability to handle confidential information and escalate issues when appropriate.
- Ability to quickly connect and build trust with people across a wide variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Fluency in multiple languages.
- Previous experience managing operations.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
