Job description

Position Summary

Sun & Ski Sports is seeking a results-driven Amazon Channel Manager to own and operate our Amazon marketplace channel end-to-end. This is a dedicated Amazon-only role, not a generalist ecommerce position. The ideal candidate brings deep, hands-on expertise in Amazon Seller Central, FBA/FBM logistics strategy, and marketplace performance optimization, and is equally comfortable pulling a tape measure on a product in the distribution center as they are diving into advertising dashboards or Seller Central case management.

This individual will serve as the single point of accountability for Amazon revenue performance, channel health, and operational execution — from product setup and shipment prep through pricing strategy and profitability analysis. The Amazon Channel Manager works closely with our distribution center, merchandising, and finance teams to ensure every product we sell on Amazon is set up correctly, priced competitively, and fulfilled cost-effectively.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Amazon Channel Ownership & Strategy

  • Serve as the primary owner of Sun & Ski Sports' Amazon channel, accountable for channel revenue, margin, and growth.
  • Develop and execute a channel strategy covering catalog breadth, fulfillment model mix, pricing positioning, and advertising investment.
  • Monitor and report on channel KPIs including revenue, units, conversion rate, ACOS/TACOS, buy box percentage, listing health, and customer feedback metrics.
  • Build and present regular Amazon performance reports and scorecards for leadership, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.

FBA Operations & Distribution Center Coordination

  • Partner directly with the distribution center team to physically measure, weigh, and document product dimensions required for FBA shipment creation.
  • Manage the end-to-end FBA inbound shipment process: shipment plan creation, box content uploads, label coordination, and shipment confirmation.
  • Maintain compliance with all Amazon FBA prep requirements including labeling, poly-bagging, bundling, and carton mark standards.
  • Develop and update DC-facing FBA prep guides and SOPs to ensure consistent, compliant shipment execution.
  • Conduct ongoing FBA vs. FBM cost-benefit analysis to determine optimal fulfillment routing by SKU or category, factoring in storage fees, aged inventory costs, prep costs, and margin impact.

Seller Central Management & Issue Resolution

  • Own all day-to-day Seller Central operations including listing creation, catalog maintenance, variation management, and compliance monitoring.
  • Proactively identify and resolve listing suppression, stranded inventory, policy violations, account health issues, and ASIN-level defects.
  • Manage Seller Central case queue; escalate and follow up on complex issues with Amazon Seller Support and Brand Registry.
  • Oversee brand registry, IP protection filings, and unauthorized seller monitoring.

SKU Setup & Product Feed Management

  • Build new ASINs and contribute to existing catalog via flat file uploads, API-based feed submissions, and direct Seller Central entry.
  • Ensure all product data (titles, bullets, descriptions, attributes, images, A+ content) meets Amazon style guide standards and is optimized for search and conversion.
  • Audit product feed regularly to identify content gaps, suppressed attributes, and listing quality opportunities.
  • Coordinate with merchandising and vendor partners to gather product content, compliance documents, and imagery required for successful listing launches.

Pricing Strategy & Competitive Dynamics

  • Own Amazon pricing strategy including MAP/MSRP compliance, competitive repricing logic, and promotional pricing decisions.
  • Monitor competitive pricing landscape daily; identify buy box risks and respond with appropriate pricing actions.
  • Manage repricer tool configuration and rules to maintain buy box competitiveness without unnecessary margin erosion.
  • Coordinate with merchandising and finance on price changes, promotional events, and deal submissions (Lightning Deals, Coupons, Prime Exclusive Discounts).

Costing & Profitability Analysis

  • Build and maintain a SKU-level profitability model for the Amazon channel, incorporating landed cost, referral fees, FBA fees, prep costs, advertising spend, return rates, and storage costs.
  • Conduct regular FBA vs. FBM cost comparisons to guide fulfillment strategy decisions by category or product.
  • Partner with finance on inventory valuation, COGS reconciliation, and Amazon remittance reconciliation.
  • Identify low-margin or unprofitable ASINs and develop action plans to improve economics or discontinue.

Advertising & Demand Generation

  • Manage Amazon Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, and Sponsored Display campaigns with a focus on efficiency and revenue growth.
  • Monitor ACOS, TACOS, impression share, and keyword ranking; optimize campaigns on an ongoing basis.
  • Execute promotional strategies including Lightning Deals, Coupons, Subscribe & Save enrollment, and seasonal deal submissions.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Own Amazon channel reporting: build and maintain dashboards tracking revenue, units, margin, advertising performance, and inventory health.
  • Provide regular executive-level updates on channel performance, including YOY comparisons, plan vs. actuals, and forward-looking projections.
  • Analyze Voice of Customer data (reviews, Q&A, returns) to surface product and content improvement opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Marketing, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • 5+ years of direct, hands-on Amazon Seller Central experience in a seller (not vendor) environment required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in FBA operations, including inbound shipment management, prep compliance, and storage cost management.
  • Experience physically coordinating with warehouse or DC teams on product measurement, prep, and shipment execution.
  • Proficiency in flat file and bulk listing workflows; experience with Amazon product feed tools and catalog management.
  • Strong analytical skills; ability to build and interpret SKU-level P&L models and channel profitability analyses.
  • Hands-on experience managing Amazon PPC campaigns with measurable results.
  • Solid understanding of Amazon's repricing mechanics, buy box dynamics, and competitive pricing strategy.
  • Experience with Amazon Brand Registry, IP protection, and unauthorized seller enforcement preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with BI tools or dashboarding platforms is a plus.
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable managing multiple concurrent workstreams independently.
