Amazon Agencies information

What are Amazon agencies?

Amazon agencies are specialized marketing firms that help brands and sellers grow their businesses on Amazon. They offer services such as account management, advertising campaigns, listing optimization, SEO, and analytics to improve sales and product visibility. These agencies are experts in navigating Amazon’s complex marketplace and policies, enabling clients to maximize their performance and profitability on the platform. Many businesses hire Amazon agencies to save time, access expert knowledge, and stay competitive in the rapidly changing e-commerce landscape.

How do Amazon agency professionals typically collaborate with brands to drive e-commerce growth?

Professionals working in Amazon Agencies partner closely with brand clients to optimize their Amazon presence, improve sales performance, and manage advertising campaigns. This collaboration involves regular communication to align on goals, sharing performance data, and developing tailored strategies for product listings, promotions, and sponsored ads. Agency professionals often act as an extension of the client's team, coordinating with creatives, analysts, and account managers to ensure seamless execution. Building strong, trust-based relationships with clients is essential, as is staying up-to-date with Amazon's evolving marketplace policies and tools.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Amazon agency professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Amazon Agency professional, you need a solid understanding of e-commerce strategies, Amazon marketplace policies, and digital marketing, often supported by experience with online retail and relevant certifications. Familiarity with tools like Amazon Seller Central, Amazon Advertising (AMS), analytics platforms, and PPC management software is crucial. Strong project management, communication, and client relationship skills help you stand out by efficiently coordinating campaigns and managing expectations. These skills and qualities are important to drive sales growth, maintain compliance, and deliver measurable results for clients in the competitive Amazon ecosystem.

Job description

# Confidential Client seeks a Head of Amazon, North America (Onsite Midwest preferred. Remote possible.)
MIDWEST USA — I'm working with a legendary, privately held, family-run personal grooming brand with a dominant, category-defining brick-and-mortar position. Their Amazon business is high-eight figures globally, most of it domestic — and it's underperforming its potential because internal teams and agencies currently bid against each other on the same keywords, driving up the client's own CPCs.
**The opportunity:** Amazon's GMV is forecast to grow ~9.6% in 2026, roughly 3x US retail. Only ~10% of brands use Amazon Marketing Cloud with real sophistication. This client wants to be one of them — and prove Amazon media lifts sell-through in the brick-and-mortar doors where they already dominate.
**Two customers:** the professional barber or salon operator (technical detail, education, higher margin) and the home consumer, often a mom buying confidence, not just a clipper. You'll need fluency in both.
## About the Role
You'll own the US/Canada Amazon P&L, reporting to the President of North America — a pragmatist who has already sold the CEO and leadership team on this transformation. **This is not a turnaround.** Leadership is aligned; the migration plan is mapped. Your mandate:
1. Execute the already-approved 3P-to-1P migration and agency consolidation on schedule
2. Rebuild merchandising around a truncated, hero-SKU assortment
3. Install full-funnel retail media (including AMC) that provably lifts Amazon *and* brick-and-mortar
You'll make two hires (ops manager, analytics manager, both budgeted) and orchestrate a broader cross-functional org already in place: paid media, channel management, content, data/BI, Canada, and the agency partner.
**100-day scorecard:** directional impact on Prime Big Deal Days (October), material impact on the holiday window, catalog focus and category share moving right — all while the migration stays on schedule.
## Areas of Oversight
- Execute the phased 1P migration while protecting Buy Box integrity and managing pricing risk with channel management
- Bring ASIN-level profit-dollar economics (not percentage margins) to every assortment call
- Consolidate all paid media to one agency of record; end internal keyword bidding conflicts
- Use AMC to connect retail media to brick-and-mortar sell-through, not just marketplace ROAS
- Truncate the catalog to hero SKUs using CM1/CM2/CM3 tiering; build a gateway-SKU doctrine for tentpoles
- Run Prime Day, PBDD, and the holiday window as orchestrated campaigns with documented after-action reviews
- Run the agency RFP to a retainer-plus-upside structure; manage dual Amazon relationships (Retail and Ads)
- Own the US/Canada P&L with a monthly executive cadence; build decision-support, not reporting
## Qualifications
- Documented evidence of moving top line, bottom line, **and** category share on an Amazon business of real scale
- Deep 1P fluency: vendor economics, AVN negotiation you personally led, CRaP mitigation
- Real AMC or clean-room measurement experience — a specific finding that changed a budget decision
- Agency management including performance-aligned compensation design (not percentage-of-spend)
- Personal, activatable relationships inside Amazon Retail and/or Ads — we will check
- Builder/orchestrator mentality; comfortable leading through influence in a matrixed org
- High integrity, hypothesis-driven, patient in a company mid-transformation
## Compensation & Location
$175–225K base plus bonus tied to net sales and operating income; no equity (private, family-held). Midwest hybrid, ~1 hour from the office, 3 days on site — remote considered for an exceptional candidate. We're only hiring a 10. For the right 10, geography is negotiable; everything else isn't.
