Job description

As a Senior Brand & Creative Strategist on the Global Brand & Creative Strategy team within Amazon's cross-channel, cross-category marketing (XCM) organization, you will develop the strategic direction for some of Amazon's most high-profile and far-reaching brands and creative campaigns, in the U.S. and beyond. This includes insight development leveraging customer research, brief writing, communications planning, creative collaboration, and post-campaign learning. You will navigate ambiguity where business strategy, consumer needs, or creative direction may not yet be defined, and make trade-offs between short- and long-term brand objectives. Please note this is not a media strategy or production role. The role requires an exceptionally high bar for quality, rigor, and ambition, paired with genuine care for the team delivering it. This leader works alongside the team rather than above it - engaging with the work throughout the process.
You will develop campaigns across channels, particularly in social. You will present strategic recommendations to senior leaders, develop the narrative quality of key documents, educate cross-functional partners to ask sharper strategic questions, and partner with your leadership and peers to shape how the team works. Collaboration is vital: you will work closely with teammates and partners across Integrated Campaign Management, Creative, Media, and Insights, as well as with brand and business stakeholders in other parts of Amazon, agencies, and external companies.
We're looking for a dynamic, multifaceted strategist who is a comprehensive and incisive thinker, thrives in complex and fast-paced environments, and is gifted at finding a true, distinctive, and compellingly clear strategic narrative in the most complicated business and consumer challenges. You should have firsthand experience developing creative briefs end-to-end, direct experience working with creative teams, and comfort using AI tools to enhance strategic thinking and creative development.
Key job responsibilities
To be successful in the role, the candidate will demonstrate the following behaviors.
• Is able to write compelling creative briefs and provide input into communications planning.
• Has worked directly in briefing creative teams and staying engaged throughout the creative process. This is not the same as briefing an agency who then translates your brief into a creative brief.
• Has deep interest, expertise, and is active in the social space, staying abreast of what's happening, and what's next.
• Highly collaborative, able to build strong, trusted partnerships across all team members in and out of their immediate group.
• Is able to draw on experience developing campaigns across channels and with various audiences (in particular, young and diverse audiences).
• Dives deep into quantitative and qualitative data around business, customer perceptions and behavior, and is able to translate it into clear, actionable insights.
• Finds compelling narratives around our brands and their customers that capture the attention and imaginations of internal stakeholders and external consumers.
• Has an appetite for a healthy level of structural ambiguity and a resilient spirit.
• Is in touch with and has a deep curiosity about cultural, social and technological trends. This includes comfort working with AI.
• Communicates clearly and effectively, ensures understanding, establishes credibility with peers and leaders.
• Writes with laser-sharp clarity, using data to support assertions while still inspiring new thoughts and solutions.
• Engages in active listening and gathers diverse perspectives, knowing when and where to provide sometimes divergent perspectives.
• Employs sound critical thinking and problem-solving approaches, coming to the table with solutions
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 6+ years of professional non-internship marketing experience
- Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements
- Experience building, executing and scaling cross-functional marketing programs
- Experience communicating results to senior leadership
- Experience in marketing or marketing research
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working for or with Creative Agencies
- Experience in ad quality
- Experience developing successful marketing or communications campaigns
