Job Description

GALT Aerospace is seeking an early-career Mechanical or Electrical Engineer to contribute to collaborative, complex designs of electrical, RF, structural, thermal, and size, weight, and power (SWaP)-constrained systems for airborne, ground-based mobile, and shipborne military command, control, and communication systems.


The ideal candidate would have educational and work experience (0-3 years) in both Mechanical and Electrical Engineer, however experience in one or the other, along with a willingness and desire to learn, is perfectly acceptable. This position is ideal for a recent graduate looking to gain experience and knowledge across aspects of engineering and the design process, from concept to production.


The Mechanical responsibilities include Mechanical System design, Structural and Thermal analysis, Mechanical System Installation design, hardware development and test, site integration, and post-delivery support.


The Electrical responsibilities include basic understanding of circuit and electronics design, ESD-compliance, and BOM generation. Basic knowledge and experience in RF engineering, lab bench equipment (i.e., power supplies, signal generators, spectrum/microwave analyzers) and PCB/PWB/CCA design.


Candidate must be professional, have the ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary group in a fast-paced environment, take initiative and own tasks, detail oriented and work hands-on in a lab environment.


The ideal candidate has a broad range of experience with many of the following:

  • Work and academic experience in Mechanical and/or Electrical engineering design and a strong academic understanding of the fundamentals
  • Proficient in CAD (Solidworks preferred)
  • Knowledge of RF systems, cable and hardness designs, electrical diagrams, schematics, PCB/PWB/CCA parts and layouts, and basic soldering skills
  • Work within a small cross-functional team to ensure creative solutions to novel problems
  • Identify components and work directly with specialty suppliers and sub-contractors
  • Develop TDP (Tech Data) and performance data packages
  • Military and/or Aircraft related to Mechanical or Electrical System Design, or Data Links

Required Skills, Experience, and Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related STEM degree from an accredited institution
  • 0-3 years of experience in a related Engineering Environment
  • S. Citizenship required
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) personnel security clearance required

Preferred Skills, Experience and Education

  • Familiar with the engineering design process: conceptual design, CAD, mechanical analysis, drawings, schematics, layouts, BOM generation,
  • Solidworks (or other CAD tool)
  • Experience taking the product from design to production and assembly
  • Strong analytical and excellent written, verbal, communication skills
  • Familiar with aircraft and aircraft structures, and Military and Airborne systems.
  • Design and test experience in comm systems / RF technology
  • Airborne Wiring, Cabling, and routing with knowledge of EMI-EMC ramifications
  • Active DOD Secret, TS/SCI, or SSBI clearance

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit or stand for 1 hour at a time
  • Must be able to operate a computer
