Job description

Job Title: PD ALS Educator
Location: Mobile Health
Department Name: Training Center

Pay Range: $42.13 - $42.13 per hour

The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey.
The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
Job Overview:
The ALS Educator's primary responsibility will be supporting, coordinating, and conducting American Heart Association classes offered by RWJBarnabas Health. The ALS educator will be responsible for instruction at multiple RWJBH Campuses and/or offsite locations when necessary. The ALS educator will maintain all training equipment, complete any daily reports, and/or department checklist as outlined by the Administrative Manager. The ALS Educator will report to the Administrative Manager. The ALS Educator models the expected behaviors and engages staff with professionalism, courtesy and respect and supports the daily operations of education programs within the Training Center.
Qualifications:
Required:
  • High School Graduate or GED
  • Minimum 1-year clinical experience
  • Advanced Level Certification (Paramedic, Nurse)
  • American Heart Association BLS Instructor, or valid BLS Provider certification with successful completion of the BLS Instructor program within 90 days of hire.
  • American Heart Association ACLS Instructor, or valid ACLS Provider certification with successful completion of the ACLS Instructor program within 90 days of hire.
  • American Heart Association PALS Instructor, or valid PALS Provider certification with successful completion of the PALS Instructor program within 90 days of hire.

Preferred:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree
  • 1+ year Instructor experience and customer service experience

Certifications and Licenses Required:
  • Advanced Level Certification (Paramedic, Nurse)
  • American Heart Association BLS Instructor, or valid BLS Provider certification with successful completion of the BLS Instructor program within 90 days of hire.
  • American Heart Association ACLS Instructor, or valid ACLS Provider certification with successful completion of the ACLS Instructor program within 90 days of hire.
  • American Heart Association PALS Instructor, or valid PALS Provider certification with successful completion of the PALS Instructor program within 90 days of hire.

Scheduling Requirements:
  • Per Diem, Days

Essential Functions:
  • Consistently demonstrate and support Mobile Health's mission, vision, core values and department service standards.
  • Provide oversight to assure program content and instructional programs comply with standards and guidelines set forth in the RWJ Barnabas Health program curriculum.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to organizational and departmental safety guidelines and procedures. Identify opportunities to improve safety and a healthy work environment.
  • Ensure all student training follows AHA curriculum guidelines and established departmental policy.
  • Teaches program lessons, as defined by AHA and as set forth in lesson plans provided by RWJBarnabas Health
  • Attends all mandatory department workshops / meetings relating to the implementation / changes of the AHA program curriculum
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the department manager
  • Participates in continuing professional development programs as appropriate.
  • Serves as student / faculty liaison.
  • Maintains site equipment and reports "par" levels as requested
  • Provides the department manager with updated student status at the end of the program
  • Update student enrollment and completion status as needed throughout the course
  • Provides monitoring of instructors as needed and completes appropriate paperwork
