Job description

Position Overview
This is an off-campus, Federal Work Study Program (FWSP) student assistant position which will consist of assisting staff and volunteers in carrying out the mission of Alpha Community Foundation of Oklahoma which is to empower, uplift, and provide aid to communities of Oklahoma.
Hours per Week
20-25 hours per week (off-campus).

Alpha Community Foundation of Oklahoma is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization, whose mission is to empower, uplift, and provide aid to the communities of Oklahoma. We empower and uplift through four pillars: civic engagement, educational outreach, health and wellness, and community service. Our goal is to serve the needs of those living in our communities. We believe that a single action can make a difference in the community, and that collective action can greatly impact the world. Through advocacy, service, and outreach activities, Alpha Community Foundation of Oklahoma will work tirelessly to contribute to the greater good of our communities.
Department Specific Job Functions
Alpha Community Foundation of Oklahoma seeks to hire work-study students for multiple positions. Specific duties of each position may include, but are not limited to the following:
Data and Research Assistant:
  • Conduct research on community needs, nonprofit best practices, and policy impacts.
  • Assist in data collection, tracking, and analysis for grant applications and reports.
  • Support impact measurement and program evaluation.
  • Develop data-driven recommendations to improve community initiatives.

Executive Administration Assistant:
  • Provide administrative support to the executive team.
  • Assist with scheduling, email correspondence, and document preparation.
  • Maintain organizational records, meeting minutes, and reports.
  • Support event coordination, board meetings, and leadership initiatives.

Digital Media & Marketing Assistant:
  • Create and manage social media content (graphics, videos, posts, etc.).
  • Develop marketing materials to promote programs and community initiatives.
  • Assist in website updates, email newsletters, and campaign outreach.
  • Track engagement metrics and recommend social media strategies.

Community Engagement Assistant:
  • Assist with outreach efforts to engage community members and stakeholders.
  • Help organize volunteer programs, workshops, and public events.
  • Develop community partnerships and maintain relationships with local organizations.
  • Conduct surveys and gather community feedback to improve programming.

Health & Wellness Assistant:
  • Support health-related programming, events, and initiatives.
  • Assist in wellness campaigns, public health research, and educational workshops.
  • Develop health-related materials and provide informational resources to the community.
  • Collaborate with community partners on health-focused outreach efforts.

Enrollment Requirements
Fall/Spring Semesters: All student employees must be enrolled at least half-time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half-time enrollment for fall/spring semesters is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates. International students must be enrolled full-time to be eligible to work as a student employee. Full-time enrollment is 9 credit hours for graduates and 12 credit hours for undergraduates.
Summer Semester: Student employees working regular student positions must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours to be eligible to work during the summer. Students not enrolled in summer classes must be enrolled in fall classes in order to work during the summer, but they (and the department) will be required to pay FICA taxes. Student employees working FWSP positions must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours (if undergraduate) or 5 credit hours (if graduate) in order to work during the summer in a Federal Work Study Program position.
Enrollment Exception: If the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum number of hours required for student employment, the student must obtain a letter from their Academic Advisor (stating the number of hours needed to graduate and anticipated graduation date) and submit it to Human Resources. This pertains to both regular and Federal Work Study Program positions. Contact jobs@uco.edu for more information.
FWSP Requirements
To be considered for Federal Work Study Program (FWSP) employment, you must be awarded work study through the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships. Please be aware, the summer FWSP award is a separate application process, and is not included with the fall/spring FWSP award. Contact Financial Aid for more information.
Enrollment requirements for FWSP employment are the same each semester. Undergraduates must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours, and Graduates must be enrolled in a minimum of 5 credit hours. If a student is enrolled in their final semester and the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum number of hours required for student employment, the student must obtain a letter from their Academic Advisor (stating the number of remaining credit hours needed to graduate and the anticipated graduation date) and provide the letter to the hiring department for submission to Human Resources. For the Community Engagement Assistant:
  • Passion for community service and advocacy.
  • Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to network and build relationships.

For the Health & Wellness Assistant:
  • Experience in public health, healthcare administration, or wellness programs.
  • Interest in community health, mental wellness, and healthcare equity.
  • Strong research and program development skills.
