Job description

We are seeking a high energy, creative and passionate Substitute Program Teacher/Support to join us for our in-person services to meet the amazing mission of empowering the lives of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Qualified candidates will have a passion for working with adults that have intellectual and developmental disabilities, patience, high energy, excellent problem-solving skills, and communication skills. The Substitute Program Teacher should also enjoy working in an innovative atmosphere and have the capacity to be very flexible in our fast-paced environment.


The Substitute Program Teacher embraces the Mission Statement of Wellspring Community:To provide a work, enrichment and educational community where adults with special needs are empowered to live full, productive and satisfying lives in a God-centered and nurturing environment. The Program Teacher's Goals and Objectives will be consistent with the Mission Statement, Vision, and Core ValuesofWellspring Community and will further advance our mission.


Nature and Scope of Job:

The Substitute Teacher is an as-needed role on the Program Team. This position will adhere to and execute lesson plans assigned by the regular teacher and will also provide instructional support to teachers when necessary. The substitute teacher should have excellent interpersonal skills, experience in behavior management, and confident classroom management.


Primary Job Duties:


  • Protect the health and safety of participants while providing enrichment instruction or
    leading community-based activities.

  • Teach or assist in the instruction of enrichment, vocational or educational activities using
    approved curriculum.

  • Assist with behavior management of participants.

  • Use technology and applications to communicate with Wellspring Team

  • Report on STARS daily goals.

  • Transport STARS and volunteer to community-based classes in the Wellspring bus.

  • Responsible for completing the regular teacher's maintenance tasks in both mornings
    and afternoons.

  • Report back to the regular teacher to provide feedback about the class.


Expectations/Qualifications/Skills:

Must be able to stand 75% of the day.

Minimum of one year experience working with special needs population in any setting preferred.

Experience with physical, emotional, cognitive and mental health challenges.

Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.

Excellent communication and relational skills to manage the multiple relationships within the program environment.

Ability to multi-task, problem solve effectively and manage the demands of a fastpaced, constantly changing environment.

Valid Colorado Driver's license

Must be able to pass a Background check, drug screen and DOT Exam.
