Job Summary

We are at a turning point, and we want you to be a part of it. Allied Vision is officially launching a complete office renovation and a strategic expansion phase. We arenโ€™t just updating our paint and floors; we are elevating our patient experience and scaling our clinical capabilities.

We are looking for a New Jersey Licensed Optician who wants to do more than just "punch a clock." We want a partner in our growthโ€”someone who is excited to help shape our new optical boutique, contribute to frame buying decisions, and grow into a leadership role as we expand. If youโ€™ve ever wanted to be part of building a premier optical destination from the ground up, this is your journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Service: Accurately interpret prescriptions from Optometrists; deliver outstanding optical care and service to patients

  • Patient Styling & Selling: Assist patients in selecting frames and lens treatments (anti-reflective, photochromic, high-index) based on their lifestyle and prescription needs. Proactively speak to patients and sell high-value packages.

  • Precision Fitting: Take accurate measurements, including pupillary distance (PD) and segment height.

  • Technical Repairs: Perform expert frame adjustments, nose pad replacements, and minor repairs to ensure optimal comfort and vision.

  • Lab & Inventory: Manage lens orders with labs, verify incoming jobs for accuracy (using a lensometer), and maintain a curated frame inventory.

  • Insurance Coordination: Navigate vision insurance plans (e.g., VSP, EyeMed, VBA) to help patients maximize their benefits.

Qualifications

  • Licensure: Active New Jersey Dispensing Optician License (Required); or pursuing a license.

  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in a retail or clinical optical setting preferred.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with optical lab tools and EHR software.

  • Clinical Troubleshooting: Ability to neutralize and troubleshoot complex Rx issues

  • Lab Operations: Final inspection and verification of jobs to ANSI standards; proficiency in minor in-office finishing/edging, if applicable.

  • Soft Skills: A "patient-first" attitude with a knack for style and fashion trends.

  • Education: High School Diploma/GED required; an Associate's degree in Opticianry is a plus.

Benefits & Perks

  • Competitive Pay: $25-$33/hr based on experience.

  • Perks: Generous employee discount on eyewear for you and your family. Significant growth opportunities.

  • Work-Life Balance: No Sundays or late-night shifts.
