Charge Auditor Registered Nurse

  • Charge Auditor RN

  • Per Diem

  • Schedule is adhoc depending on the needs of the department and the PRNs availability

  • Level 2 Trauma

Major Responsibilities:
Maintain charge capture for Surginet/Allegra using a working knowledge of Lawson and Surginet systems.
1)Maintain nomenclature for Surginet chargemaster line items.
2)Assist in developing and maintaining all surgical supply charges in coordination with materials manager, revenue compliance and Surginet information systems.
3)Review and approve all requests for Surginet charge master or p-file changes.
4)Provide monthly reports on all issues identified and resolved.
5)Chart auditing for correct documentation and charge entry.
Provide Regulatory and Compliance expertise for Surginet.
1)Maintain appropriate line items revenue codes.
2)Provide research and problem resolution relating to any line items that may have a regulatory or compliance issue.
3)Evaluate, submit and track updated revisions for all charges related to Surginet system.
4)Assist OR Manager, Materials Manager and team leaders with pricing of Surginet line items as well as pricing for any new P-files submitted.
Provide proactive audits of the Surginet system.
1)Complete audits focusing on charge capture and revenue opportunities.
2)Provide annual compliance and line item review of the Surginet system.
3)Coordinate corrective actions as necessary with the OR Managers and team leaders.
4)Provide charge capture activities for optimal compliance and reimbursement.
Special Projects
1)Provide assistance for projects identified as requested by OR Director or Managers regarding Surginet.
2)Educate new staff on Surginet and update and reeducate staff on any new functionality of the Surginet system.
Licensure:
Nurse, Registered (RN)
Education/Experience Required:
Experience with Surginet database. Licensed nurse. 3-5 years of experience working in a hospital surgical setting.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Self-directed, minimal supervision required. Good written and verbal communication skills. Good knowledge of Surginet charge capture. Computer skills, i.e. word, excel and database software.
Current Illinois nursing licensure
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to work under time pressures and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently. Ability to interact with associates at all levels within the organization. Ability to investigate, analyze and correct any charging issues related to the O.R. Must have proven problem-solving abilities and strong analytical skills. Some local travel required. Flexible hours.
If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
