Position Summary
The Medical Assistant plays a pivotal role in supporting clinicians and ensuring efficient daily operations. This position requires full-time availability and may include some weekend shifts as needed. Work hours may vary based on location, patient volume, and business needs.
Medical Assistants at CloseKnit perform a blend of clinical and administrative duties, working closely with providers and staff to deliver accurate, timely, and high-quality patient care.
Position Schedule
This is a float/ full-time position requiring travel between nearby practices.
โ€ข Work schedules may vary depending on practice location, patient demand, and operational requirements.
โ€ข Based on business needs, Medical Assistants may be required to work at multiple clinical locations.
โ€ข Flexibility is essential to support coverage needs and ensure continuity of patient care across practices.
โ€ข The schedule for this position will mostly be Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
Core Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
โ€ข Assist providers with exams, diagnostic testing, and in-office procedures.
โ€ข Conduct clinical intake, including detailed patient histories and vitals.
โ€ข Administer injections and medications as directed by licensed providers.
โ€ข Perform venipuncture and collect lab specimens (blood, urine, POC testing, etc.).
โ€ข Operate medical equipment such as EKG machines and other diagnostic tools.
โ€ข Prepare specimens for laboratory testing and conduct basic lab procedures.
โ€ข Educate patients on treatment plans, follow-up care, and self-care instructions.
โ€ข Maintain clean, stocked, and properly sanitized exam rooms.
โ€ข Support quality initiatives, including PCMH-related tasks and clinical KPI adherence.
Administrative Responsibilities
โ€ข Greet and register patients with a professional, friendly demeanor.
โ€ข Manage check-ins, check-outs, and verify insurance coverage.
โ€ข Maintain and update patient information in the electronic health record (EHR).
โ€ข Schedule and reschedule patient appointments, including physicals and chronic care visits.
โ€ข Process prior authorizations, referrals, and daily patient callbacks.
โ€ข Track and link diagnostic imaging orders to results.
โ€ข Manage inventory, medical supplies, and perform daily opening and closing procedures.
โ€ข Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including HIPAA and OSHA.
โ€ข Support staff coverage needs and assist team members when necessary.
โ€ข Communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing.
Technical & Operational Expertise
โ€ข Pro?ciency in EHR systems and medical software.
โ€ข Ability to troubleshoot minor equipment or software issues.
โ€ข Stay current with evolving clinical practices and technologies.

Competency in:

โ€ข EKG testing.
โ€ข Must meet all applicable state requirements and maintain active certi?cations.
Preferred Quali?cations
โ€ข 2+ years of customer service experience.
โ€ข Experience in primary care, internal medicine, immediate care, or emergency care.
โ€ข Familiarity with systems such as eClinicalWorks or Athena.
โ€ข Pro?ciency in Microsoft Office Suite.
โ€ข Knowledge of population health initiatives.
โ€ข Bilingual (Spanish/English)
Physical Requirements
Requires the ability to stand and sit for hours at a time (with some bending and stooping), ability to use manual dexterity in relation to clinical requirements, and ability to lift 50 lbs.
