Job description

POSITION: Community Outreach & Community Events Intern
DEPARTMENT: Community Outreach
REPORTS TO: Sr. Vice President, Community Outreach
STATUS: Internship, Unpaid (In-Person) - Fall
SUMMARY: This is an exciting opportunity for an individual interested in a career in Community Outreach and Events. Intern will observe, learn and develop skills necessary to explore career opportunities within the chosen field. Individual may qualify for college credit if allowed by their college/university. This position is an unpaid internship.
LEARNING EXPERIENCE
Intern will learn and be exposed to:
  • Inner workings of a major non-profit sports and event organization.
  • Exposure to the day-to-day administrative operations of a Community Outreach department, i.e. Purchase Orders, Databases, Scholarship & Contest Applications etc....
  • Learning the fundamentals and operational details to coordinate community programs and events.
  • Gain knowledge with the collection, organization, and database storage of communication documents.
  • Assist in the coordination of the Orange Bowl Family Fun Fit Day set-up and activities.
  • Assist with the day to day operations of the Orange Bowl Leadership Academy afterschool program.
  • Opportunity to participate in the day to day operations of the Orange Bowl Youth Football Alliance (OBYFA), including but not limited to collection, recording and organization of park insurance, registration cards, & databases.
  • Aid in the coordination of OBYFA events including but not limited to Cheer Championships, Park of the Week program (Weekends required), Recreational League Championships.
  • Acquiring a high-level understanding on the preparation and execution of the Orange Bowl Big Buddy Ticket Giveaway Program, Orange Bowl Leadership Academy.
  • Assist in the preplanning process for the Orange Bowl High School Showcases (Football & Basketball) by preparing materials, updating databases, outreach to high schools and various colleges and members of the community for the events.
  • Aid with Community Outreach & Special Guests in game promotions during the Capital One Orange Bowl (COOB).
  • Work with the events department on executing various events leading up to and during the COOB
  • Other duties as assigned

PREREQUISITES
  • Pursuing a degree and/or career in Sports Management, Hospitality/Entertainment, Community Outreach/Relations, or Event Management
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Publisher and typing skills
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds
  • Valid Driver's License

Note:Preferred commitment of a minimum of 30-40 hours a week consistent with academic demands/schedule. Ability to work weekends and around holidays is a requirement for this role.
