Job Summary: Job Class 040, Labor Grade 1
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conscientiously work toward running a safer and cleaner operation.
  • Ensure that all guards are always in place.
  • Inform the supervisors of any maintenance problems or suggested changes to equipment.
  • Carries through to completion without supervision the machining and fitting of all kinds of metal parts, tools, and machines.
  • Lays out work from blueprints, sketches, and written specifications.
  • Sets up and operates all available machine tools and performs progressive machining operations on work involving very close tolerances or unusual requirements.
  • Assume various other duties at the direction of the shift Supervisor.

The incumbent is expected to understand that all employees have a shared responsibility for the quality of products and related services provided to our customers. Duties and responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with the PTC Quality Management System and its policies, procedures, and work instructions as applicable to the job or function being performed.
Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:
Must have CNC programming and operating experience.
Must have knowledge of setting up and operating all available machine tools.
Must be familiar with performing progressive machining operations on work involving very close tolerances or unusual requirements.
Must be capable of determining operation sequence.
Must be able to skillfully use all machinist's hand tools and measuring instruments.
Must be familiar with working properties of all metals.
Must have knowledge of fitting and assembling where necessary.
Must be able to lay out work from drawing sketches or written instructions.
Must have enough hand tools to perform work.
Requires knowledge of advanced shop mathematics.
Will be required to work with minimum supervision.
Assumes various other duties as directed by the supervisor.
