What is Intune Autopilot?

Intune Autopilot is a Microsoft solution that streamlines the deployment and configuration of new Windows devices in an organization. Using Autopilot, IT administrators can pre-configure devices so that users can set them up with minimal interaction—often just by signing in with their organizational credentials. The process automatically enrolls the device in Microsoft Intune for management, applies company policies, and installs required applications, reducing the need for hands-on IT support. This approach improves efficiency, enhances user experience, and ensures devices are secure and compliant from the start.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Intune Autopilot Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Intune Autopilot Specialist, you need deep knowledge of Windows OS deployment, device lifecycle management, and experience with Microsoft Endpoint Manager and Azure Active Directory. Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Intune, Windows Autopilot, PowerShell scripting, and related Microsoft 365 services is typically required, often supported by certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and clear communication are essential for working with end users and IT teams. These skills ensure efficient device provisioning, secure configuration, and smooth onboarding processes in modern workplace environments.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working with Intune Autopilot deployments, and how can these be addressed?

Professionals handling Intune Autopilot deployments often face challenges such as device enrollment errors, compatibility issues with certain hardware models, and user assignment mismatches. These issues can typically be addressed by thorough pre-deployment testing, maintaining updated hardware and driver lists, and ensuring clear documentation for both IT and end-users. Additionally, collaborating closely with support teams and staying current with Microsoft Best Practices can help minimize disruptions and streamline large-scale deployments.

Job description

Proof of the Pudding is a chef-led hospitality company delivering food and beverage experiences at some of North America's most complex sports, entertainment, cultural, and live-event venues.
Founded in Atlanta in 1979, Proof has built a national reputation for doing hospitality differently-from-scratch cooking at scale, hyper-local sourcing, and a partnership-first approach that treats clients as collaborators, not contracts. The company serves professional and collegiate sports venues, convention centers, cultural institutions, and large-scale destination events across the United States and internationally.
This position will be the face of IT for our employees-the person they call when a laptop won't start, a login won't work, or a new team member needs to be up and running on day one.
This is a genuinely exciting time to join. We're building a modern, cloud-first IT environment on Microsoft 365, Intune, Autopilot, and Entra ID, and you'll work alongside the IT Lead and a senior Microsoft 365 specialist as we do it. The role also includes travel, and if you enjoy getting out from behind a desk and meeting the people you support, you'll feel right at home.
This position reports directly to the CFO and works collaboratively with internal colleagues and external technology partners. This position may require travel among our venues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Be the first point of contact for IT support by owning the helpdesk queue, troubleshooting issues, and escalating complex problems.
  • Use our helpdesk and remote support platform to manage requests and support managed devices remotely.
  • Set up, image, configure, and deploy computers using Windows Autopilot and Microsoft Intune; maintain the spare device pool and ship equipment to users.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding to ensure new hires are productive on day one and departing employees are offboarded efficiently.
  • Support Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Exchange Online, as well as basic user, mailbox, group, and license administration under the direction of the IT Lead.
  • Support business applications by troubleshooting user issues and assisting with day-to-day administration.
  • Handle occasional networking tasks, including basic connectivity, printer, Wi-Fi, and network hardware troubleshooting.
  • Travel to company locations to provide on-site support, device rollouts, printer and peripheral setup, and assist with new location technology transitions.
  • Maintain accurate records for users, devices, licenses, and access.
  • Contribute to IT documentation, including procedures, runbooks, and knowledge base articles.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • At least two years of hands-on experience in an IT support or helpdesk role.
  • Solid Windows 11 troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, printers, and basic networking issues.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
  • Basic Microsoft 365 and Entra ID user account administration.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, IT partners, and users at all levels.
  • A patient, service-oriented approach with the ability to explain technical issues in plain language.
  • Strong organizational and customer service skills.
  • Based in or able to commute to Atlanta, GA, with a valid driver's license and the ability to travel within the United States.

Preferred Skills
  • Microsoft certification or formal training, particularly MD-102, MS-102, SC-300, or MS-900. Equivalent hands-on experience is valued equally.
  • Experience with Microsoft Intune, Windows Autopilot, Defender for Business, or Entra Join.
  • Exchange Online and SharePoint Online administration.
  • Experience with a helpdesk or remote monitoring and management (RMM) platform.
  • Basic PowerShell or scripting experience.
  • Experience supporting a multi-site organization.
  • Networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and the OSI model.

Core Values & Competency Requirements
  • Business acumen with a strong understanding of job responsibilities, policies, and quality standards.
  • Dependability and accountability with a commitment to seeing projects through to completion.
  • Integrity, honesty, and professionalism while supporting the company's culture and values.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and secure work environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Initiative and proactive problem-solving.
  • Adaptability and the ability to manage changing priorities.
  • Service-oriented mindset with a sense of urgency and focus on customer satisfaction.

Work Environment
This position consists primarily of in-office work, including computer use, phone support, and movement throughout the office. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, with occasional after-hours support for urgent issues and planned project deployments.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Full-time salaried position with a salary range of $70,000-$75,000 annually, paid bi-weekly.
  • Training and mentorship in Microsoft cloud technologies, including Intune, Autopilot, and Entra ID.
  • Company-paid Basic Life, AD&D, and Long-Term Disability coverage for eligible full-time employees.
  • Optional benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Voluntary Life and AD&D, Short-Term Disability, Accident, Critical Illness, and Hospital Indemnity insurance.
