What You'll Do
In this role,you'llbe responsible forleading contract negotiation and risk management for Design Group's design and construction projects.You'llwork closely with the Executive Team, Project Leadership, Procurement, insurers, and outside counsel to negotiate complex agreements, guide practical risk decisions, and support project teams from kickoff through close-out. This position playsan important rolein protecting client trust and supporting responsible growth across our architecture, engineering, and construction management entities, giving you the opportunity to influence strategy at both project and enterprise levels.
Negotiate complex design, EPC, design-build, and construction management contracts with clients and project partners
Draft and revise AIA, EJCDC,ConsensusDocs, DBIA, and owner-drafted agreements to align with business and project needs
Lead contract negotiations in partnership with the Executive Team, Project Leadership, and Procurement
Maintainthe firm's contract and template library to support consistency and speed in deal execution
Advise project teams on risk mitigation, projectselection, and deliverymethodology
Support business development through proactive contract strategy and direct client engagement
Guide project teams through legal and risk considerations from kickoff through close-out
Manage dispute resolution matters, including client discussions, liens, mediation, arbitration, litigation, and settlements
Coordinate with insurers and outside counsel on professional liability, builder's risk, and construction-specific insurance matters
Support licensing, corporate governance, and risk management strategy across Design Group entities
What You'll Bring
Qualifications
JD from an accredited law school
Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state
5+ years of legal experience supporting construction, commercial contracts, or project delivery work
Experience drafting and negotiating design-build, EPC, and construction management contracts
Working knowledge of construction insurance, including professional liability, and ability to travel up to 15%
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with architecture, engineering, construction management, or EPC organizations
Experience with AIA, EJCDC,ConsensusDocs, DBIA, or owner-drafted contract forms
