Inspector and Senior Inspector in Syracuse area
Senior Construction Inspector, NICET III (Civil/Structural)
SCOPE: The scope is to provide Construction Quality Assurance Services for the I-81 Viaduct project's Design Build contracts, Phase I. The project includes the following objectives: improvements to the new section of I-81 (former I[1]481) between I-690 and New York State Thruway (I-90); reconstruction and widening of the new section of I-81 (former I-481) between Interchange 8 (Northern Boulevard) to Interchange 9 (existing I-81/I-481/NY Route 481 interchange); reconstruction of the existing I-81/I-481 northern interchange; reconstruction of the I-81/I-481 southern interchange, improvements to Interchange 3 (Dewitt/Fayetteville) including improvements to the Lyndon Corners intersection.
Qualifications for Senior Inspector:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid NICET Level III certification in Transportation/Highway Construction, or equivalent degree.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience in an Inspector role with agency experience such as NJTA, NJDOT, NJ Transit, NYSDOT, MTA
  • ACI Grade I Certification
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills
  • Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task; Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to learn project specific software as needed

Senior Inspector, NICET III Duties Include:
  • Inspect all construction materials to be used at the site to ensure compliance with the Plans and Specifications.
  • Inspect all construction activities to ensure quality of workmanship.
  • Maintain daily records of the numbers and classification of workers employed by the Contractors using the Authority's Site Manager & EBO.
  • Prepare daily reports of all construction and engineering field work using the Authority's Site Manger & EBO.
  • Prepare and forward to the Authority weekly quantity summaries for each item of the contract, with an appropriate format.
  • Maintain records covering running totals of quantities and costs while construction is in progress.
  • Maintain daily records of the type and size of equipment used on all construction operations using the Authority's Site Manager & EBO.
  • Review traffic protection procedures.
  • Review and coordinate submittals as required per the Plans and Specifications.
  • Attend meetings or conferences as directed by the Authority.
  • Perform tests required to ensure material compliance with the Plans and Specifications.
