Job description

Job Title: Business Development Specialist (Bilingual)

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana

Reports to: EVP & Chief Marketing Officer and President & CEO

Job Description

The Business Development Specialist (Bilingual) is responsible for generating sales and revenue from new and existing customers for company. The role will include working with Project Managers / Specialists to estimate, plan, prepare and execute activities associated with the project. The Business Development Engineer assists the project team to ensure the project is done on time, safely, within budget, and in accordance with established policies and procedures. He or she will be expected to coordinate with all parties including Japanese speaking clients, owners, suppliers, subcontractors, licensors, and other parties to achieve the sale and promotion of projects to operations in a timely and quality manner.

Essential Functions

Promote Customer Relations

  • Contacts / visits existing and potential clients to develop new business opportunities
  • Builds effective relationships with customers, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support company core values to meet and exceed the customer's expectations.

Preconstruction Services

  • Participates in reviewing drawings and specifications.
  • Estimates the costs and manhours required to complete the project per the owner's schedule.
  • Participates in preconstruction planning, regarding all aspects of budget and project schedule.

Project Start-up and Scheduling

  • Understands project requirements and the contract's general conditions; confirms that all materials and subcontract work is scheduled accurately and complies with contract documents and specifications.
  • Ensures that all materials are in conformance with the customer's expectations.
  • Attends site visits/inspections of subcontractors and vendors to ensure the quality of work.

Project Administration, Operations, and Close-Out

  • Communicates with subcontractors and all related parties to ensure that expectations are met.
  • Attends routine project progress meetings with subcontractor representatives and understands the upcoming days/week's work to be done.
  • Ensures the project closeout process is finalized to hand off the project to the customer.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Engineering Degree (Civil, Mechanical or Electrical) &/or Construction Management Degree.
  • Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the industrial or construction field.
  • Working knowledge of construction contract language and terms
  • Ability to multitask and have excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to estimate project costs considering the appropriate labor, materials, and equipment necessary for estimation and execution of the project.
  • Ability to problem solve and execute changes in the schedule as needed, making decisions under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to organize people, tools, and equipment and plan/manage multiple activities to accomplish desired results.
  • Working knowledge of and ability to apply OSHA safety standards.
  • Commitment to quality by evaluating project-related processes and effecting changes as necessary to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Proficiency in using a personal computer (PC) and company communication tools, such as email, internet, and Microsoft products (e.g., Word, Excel, Office, Outlook, Project).
  • Ability to create &/ or review daily logs, monthly reports, etc. as needed for clarification and updates of project progress.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in both of English and Japanese.

Working Environment:

  • Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)as required by the owner or owner's site representative and the company's safety policies.
  • Must be willing and able to work extended hours, weekends, and possible holidays as required by the project schedule to meet the customers' deadlines.
  • The candidate may be required to travel to job sites up to 50% of his / her work time.
