Position Description & Qualifications
Are you a recent engineering graduate or early-career engineer ready to make a meaningful impact? This role offers an excellent opportunity to build your technical skills while supporting a mission that strengthens military defense and helps protect U.S. military personnel. You will apply curiosity, sound problem-solving, and a collaborative mindset to a critical public safety and physical security program.
You will join a large technical team that works closely with customers, experienced engineers, field technicians, and support teams to deliver reliable, high-quality service.
This position is available in two locations; Norfolk, VA or San Diego, CA.
In this role, you will:
  • Travel as needed and work with integrated electronic systems and support teams to provide on-site and remote technical support to field engineers and technicians worldwide.
  • Support hardware and software baseline and configuration management activities.
  • Continue developing the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to become a future subject matter expert.
  • Develop clear, accurate, and testable operating procedures.
  • Support software analysis, testing, debugging, maintenance, and limited programming activities.
  • Help identify application issues, support solution development, and assist with implementing approved changes.
  • Respond to corrective and preventive maintenance service calls.
  • Meet contract service level agreement requirements.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
    • US Citizenship
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
    • A degree in General Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field may be acceptable if all other requirements are met.
  • Foundational understanding of engineering principles, product lifecycle support, integration, verification and validation, and system sustainment.
  • Ability to support system diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Familiarity with electronic, hydraulic, and electromechanical systems troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, technical diagrams, schematics, and manuals.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
  • Ability to accurately document maintenance activities, repairs, and corrective actions.
  • Ability to travel CONUS/OCONUS as needed (up to 50%).
  • Interest in learning and working with the following systems or technologies:
    • Access-controlled vehicle and pedestrian gates
    • CCTV and video surveillance systems
    • Automated Vehicle Gate systems
    • Programmable Logic Controllers
    • Electronic security systems or access control platforms
    • Card readers and access control logic
    • Vehicle barriers and bollards, including hydraulic and electromechanical systems
    • Mass notification and emergency alert systems
    • Alarms, intrusion detection systems, and sensor networks
    • Emergency Operations Centers or Dispatch Centers
    • General electronics troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair

Additional desired experience and skills:
  • An Active Secret Clearance
  • Master's degree in a related engineering or STEM field.
  • Experience supporting physical security, electronic security, access control, intrusion detection, video surveillance, perimeter security, and force protection systems.
  • Experience with aircraft maintenance or other complex mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems.
  • Knowledge of DoD acquisition, engineering, cybersecurity, logistics, sustainment, or configuration management processes.
  • Experience with configuration management tools, database tools, data visualization tools, and dashboards.
  • Experience preparing program-level briefings, technical reports, engineering recommendations, and customer decision packages.
  • Professional certifications such as PE, ASEP/CSEP, Security+, or another related technical certification.
