Concealed Weapon Jobs in Virginia (NOW HIRING)

Norfolk Collegiate School seeks a reliable, proactive, and community-oriented Safety Officer to help maintain a safe and secure campus environment. This position plays a key role in supporting the daily safety operations of the school, ensuring the well-being of students, faculty, staff, and visitors during the school day and at school-sponsored events.

The ideal candidate will have experience in campus safety, security, or a related field, demonstrate strong situational awareness and communication skills, and be committed to fostering a safe, welcoming, and respectful school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and patrol campus buildings and grounds to ensure safety and security
• Serve as a visible and approachable presence for students, faculty, staff, and visitors
• Manage access control, including monitoring entrances and verifying visitor check-in procedures
• Respond promptly and effectively to incidents, emergencies, and safety concerns
• Collaborate with school administration on safety protocols and emergency preparedness
• Assist with arrival, dismissal, and traffic flow to ensure student safety
• Maintain accurate reports of incidents, observations, and daily activities
• Support safety coverage for school events, as needed
• Enforce school policies and procedures in a consistent and professional manner

Qualifications:

• High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
• Prior experience in security, law enforcement, military, or school safety preferred
• Valid concealed weapon permit required
• Must be licensed through the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) and qualified as an armed security officer
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, and visitors
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-pressure or emergency situations
• Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and attention to detail
• Working knowledge of safety procedures and emergency response protocols
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends for school events
