Social Studies - Secondary (9-12) General Education

Position Type: Teacher (1.0 FTE)

Location: ZED Building located in Kasson, MN 

Workday/Year:  Monday-Friday; 7:30-3:30

Duty Days:  186 (approximately)

Starting Date:  August 2026

About Zumbro Education District:  ZED is an education district serving six member districts that include  Byron, Blooming Prairie, Hayfield, Kasson-Mantorville, Stewartville, and Triton.  ZED offers a wide array of general education and special education services to our member districts (please refer to www.zumbroed.org for details). The ALC serves at-risk students in grades 6-12. ZED has been in existence for over 30 years and is located in Kasson (MN) which is 16 miles away from the city of Rochester (MN). 

Job Summary:  The ALC Social Studies teacher delivers academic programming in multiple  content areas for high school students; develops and delivers engaging curricular content based on state and local standards; implements differentiated instruction with a focus on personalized learning; embeds social-emotional learning, various technologies and a variety of pedagogical approaches into daily activities; establishes effective classroom management with a focus on restorative practices; communicates effectively with all stakeholders.

Job Duties:   
- Collaborate and communicate regularly with families and educational teams in making educational decisions; use family and community resources to support learning. 
- Assist students in the development of the Continual Learning Plans that address student goals and guide regular discussions with students about attainment of set goals.
- Plan, implement and assess daily lessons that address the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students.
Implement instruction that supports the MN Standards.
- Employs classroom management techniques, current researched best practices and strategies to create a rich learning environment for all learners.
- Collect and utilize data so that effective measures of progress and instructional strategies are formulated and implemented.





Required Qualifications:

- Valid Minnesota Teaching License in Social Studies or equivalent
- Proficient in multiple technologies which support student learning 
Ability to cultivate a creative, flexible and positive learning environment through effective classroom management and instruction, innovative teaching techniques, and strong communication skills
