Hours: Full time, 40 hrs/wk, evening work, and some overtime required. This is not a seasonal position.

Our Alaskan Tasting Room located in Lemon Creek is a favorite stop for both locals and visitors. At this location, on-tap beers and seltzers are served at the hospitality bar, guests can learn about the unique history of our brewery and beers, and merchandise can be purchased. From guided tastings and passing along the story of Alaskan Brewing Co., to helping a guest find their perfect beer match, a Retail Associate in the Tasting Room is responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere and positive experience for everyone who visits.


The Position:

This Retail Associate position will be assigned to work in the Tasting Room; however, they may be required to occasionally perform duties at our downtown Depot. The Retail Associateโ€™s primary responsibility is customer service at our various locations, including standard retail responsibilities and beer-tending. General tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Welcoming and engaging customers while in the retail locations
  • Participating with customers throughout their experience
  • Operating cash register and POS system
  • May be required to pour samples at hospitality bar. Required to diligently monitor liquor age requirements, customer consumption, and address issues that arise.
  • May be required to give guided tastings regularly with knowledge of the brewing process.
  • All Retail Associateโ€™s must understand Alaskan beer products and brewery โ€œstoryโ€.
  • Maintains retail area appearance. Daily janitorial duties are expected including vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing and cleaning, stocking restrooms with supplies, and other janitorial duties as assigned.
  • Must become knowledgeable about the merchandise in all retail stores.
  • May assist with merchandise receiving, folding and tagging.
  • May assist with inventory counts.
  • Must keep busy and be working at all times.
  • May be required to fill in other areas of production or administration.
  • Ability to communicate well with other people, both orally and in writing.
  • Physical ability to stack 40-pound cases to a height of seven feet and to lift kegs weighing up to 160 lbs.

Reporting to the Retail Supervisor, this person works as part of a retail team, directly with customers, to ensure that each one is treated with an authentically Alaskan quality of service. Skills and knowledge needed to be successful in this position include:

  • Passion for people
  • Knowledge of merchandise inventory and features (training provided)
  • Knowledge of Alaskan Brewing Company history, beers, and craft beverages (training provided)
  • Ability to operate cash register and POS system (training provided)
  • TAPs certification within 30 days of beginning employment (training, time, and certification paid for by Alaskan Brewing Company)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to perform time-sensitive, fast-paced, physically demanding activity
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
