Job description

We are seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Estimator to support a growing fire alarm division. This role is responsible for take-offs, pricing, and bid preparation across new construction, retrofit, and service-related fire alarm projects. The ideal candidate has a strong background in fire alarm systems design and estimating and is comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, growth-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate take-offs from blueprints, specifications, and construction documents for fire alarm systems
  • Prepare complete, competitive bids and proposals for new construction, retrofit, and service projects
  • Read and interpret architectural, electrical, and fire protection drawings
  • Apply knowledge of NFPA 72 and local AHJ requirements to ensure code-compliant designs and pricing
  • Source and price devices, panels, wiring, and materials from manufacturers such as Notifier, EST3, EST4, Simplex, Siemens, and Kidde
  • Coordinate with sales, project managers, and engineering teams throughout the bid process
  • Maintain accurate estimate documentation, change order pricing, and historical job costing data
  • Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, electrical contractors, and ownership groups
  • Track bid calendars, RFI deadlines, and addenda to ensure proposals are submitted on time
  • Support handoff to project management with clear scope, pricing, and design documentation

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of fire alarm estimating experience, or equivalent field/design experience with strong estimating ability
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 72 and fire alarm code requirements
  • Experience with fire alarm system platforms such as Notifier, Simplex, EST3, EST4, Siemens, or Kidde
  • Proficiency reading construction drawings, specifications, and fire protection plans
  • Experience with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar) preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for client and internal coordination
  • NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems a plus
