Math Academic Intervention Services (AIS) Teacher
The Elementary Substitute Math AIS Teacher provides short- or long-term targeted mathematics support to students working below grade-level benchmarks. This role focuses on delivering small-group interventions, reinforcing foundational math concepts, and maintaining continuous progress monitoring while the primary AIS teacher is on leave.
Key Responsibilities
Small-Group Intervention
  • Deliver Tier 3 math interventions to small groups of students.
  • Use hands-on manipulatives to anchor abstract math concepts visually and physically.
  • Maintain an encouraging, low-anxiety environment that builds confidence and math resilience in young learners.

Assessment & Record Keeping
  • Administer brief progress-monitoring checks as instructed.
  • Keep clear, accurate daily records of student attendance, completed lessons, and skill mastery notes for the returning AIS teacher.

Communication & Collaboration
  • Touch base regularly with classroom teachers to align intervention focus with current classroom topics.
  • Communicate any significant student progress or behavioral concerns to grade-level teams or school leadership.

Certification
  • Valid New York State Teaching Certificate

Compensation
  • Retired ACS Teacher: $160.00 per day
  • Certified Substitute: $145.00 per day
  • Lesson Planning: $50.00 per day in addition to daily rate
