Job description

Simplot is a family-owned, privately held global food and agriculture company headquartered in Boise, Idaho. Summary
The person in this Networking Engineering II role will participate in maintaining a global network, which can include planning, designing, evaluating, configuration, implementation, and optimization of core networking hardware/software including management of any subcontractors or carriers. This position will also work closely with our Information Security team to ensure network solutions align with and support Simplot security initiatives across our global enterprise application portfolio and factory IT/OT systems.
This is a full-time onsite position at Simplot HQ (Boise, ID).
Key Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain all system configurations and ensure compliance with any IT architectural guidelines, security policies, and ensuring current system documentation is maintained.
  • Design, install, analyze optimize, and troubleshoot enterprise wireless and wired networks in multivendor environment with a clear understanding of wireless controllers from concept to life cycle management.
  • Responsible for network designs involving datacenter, plant operations, security, and cloud access.
  • Work closely with managed service providers to maintain network configurations and resolve issues.
  • Work with network vendors for turn up and testing of new services, problem resolution and support.
  • Shared responsibility for monitoring circuit and network performance, identification of circuit or component failures, plus accurate and timely reporting of issues into a centralized ticketing database.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment, collaborating with other global IT departments or business units.
  • Work in a team environment, collaborating with other IT departments, business units or vendors/contractors around the globe to implement and maintain network and security solutions.
  • Ensure network solutions align with Simplot's Information Security objectives.
  • Be willing to represent the Network Engineering department and act as mentor to junior team members.
  • Understand emerging technologies and be able to evaluate and recommend new products or solutions that aligns with our global IT strategies.

Typical Education
Bachelor's Degree from 4-year college or university or equivalent education and experience.
Relevant Experience
  • Minimum 2-5 years related industry experience and/or training.
  • Technical Skills/Proficiencies: Networking: TCP/IP, WAN, LAN, VLAN, VPN, VOIP, SIP, IP Trunking, Microsoft Teams Voice, H323, Wireless (802.11x), MPLS (BGP), QOS, UNIX, Linux.
  • Supported Hardware: Juniper & HP Switches/Routers, Aruba, Juniper MIST wireless, Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Tools Juniper MIST, Aruba (AirWave, Clearpass), Juniper Apstra, Panorama, Wire Shark, Sflow, Netflow.
  • IT Service Management: ITIL Framework, CMDB, capacity, service and change management.
  • Working knowledge of Windows (Server, Active Directory, and Domains), Security Principals, Firewall Basics, or Cisco Certifications would be considered a plus.
  • Understanding of Enterprise scale multi-site/country networking environments.
  • Understanding of current and emerging security principles and methods.
  • Understanding of Hybrid Cloud networking security (LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, SASE, Equinix, Azure, AWS).
  • Understanding of wireless security and network authentication services such as 802.1x and Clearpass.
