Job description

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Project Manager - Aviation to join our expanding team in our Charlotte or Raleigh, NC offices. This is a dynamic leadership opportunity to work on a variety of airport projects at multiple airports within North Carolina, from general aviation to large hubs.  

Role Summary

As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead multidisciplinary teams through planning, design, and delivery of complex airport projects. You'll play a key role in business development, project execution, and client relationship management-while also helping to mentor junior staff within our Charlotte Aviation team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and manage a variety of airport projects
  • Oversee design stormwater, utility infrastructure, and pavement design
  • Manage construction support services, including construction management and inspection
  • Lead and coordinate large, multi-disciplinary design teams
  • Prepare engineering plans, specifications, reports, and permit applications
  • Analyze design alternatives, technical data, cost estimates, and project schedules
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards
  • Maintain and grow client relationships with local and national aviation partners
  • Support business development, including proposal preparation and client presentations
  • Mentor and develop junior team members to promote technical excellence

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
  • Minimum of 10 years of civil engineering experience, including at least 3 years in civil engineering project design
  • North Carolina Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Demonstrated experience managing aviation or transportation infrastructure projects
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to travel to client sites throughout the region
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with FAA, NCDEQ, NCDOT, and local permitting agencies within the Carolinas
  • Familiarity with civil engineering design, site development, and utility coordination
  • Advanced proficiency in Civil 3D and related engineering software
