Job description

Looking for a career that's both challenging and rewarding? The Roanoke Regional Airport Commission is hiring a Full-Time Airport Operations Officer to join our dedicated team. This onsite position puts you at the center of the action-helping to keep airport operations safe, efficient, and compliant with federal regulations while supporting the travel experience of thousands of passengers each day.

What You'll Do

  • Monitor daily airport operations and ensure compliance with federal safety regulations.
  • Conduct routine inspections of runways, taxiways, and airport facilities.
  • Respond to incidents, emergencies, and operational issues with professionalism.
  • Coordinate with multiple departments to keep operations running seamlessly.
  • Support passenger services and represent the airport with a calm, problem-solving approach.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required (equivalent education/experience may be considered).
  • Knowledge of FAR Parts 139 and 77 and TSR Part 1542 is required.
  • AAAE ACE (Ops), Certified Member (C.M.), or AMPAP/IAP designation desirable.
  • Experience working in a part 139 certified airport environment preferred

Special Requirements:

  • Must meet TSA security requirements for unescorted access.
  • Ability to work a rotating schedule that includes nights, weekends and holidays
  • Valid Virginia driver's license and insurable driving record required.
