Workers must be trained in fuel handling procedures and safety protocols to prevent spills or hazards. This job requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and often the ability to work in various weather conditions.

To thrive as an Airport Fueler, a strong attention to detail, physical stamina, and a high school diploma or equivalent are typically required. Familiarity with fueling equipment, adherence to safety regulations, and possession of relevant certifications such as a valid driver’s license and sometimes a Hazmat endorsement are also important. These skills ensure safe, efficient, and accurate fueling operations, which are critical for airline safety and reliability.
What is a typical workday like for an Airport Fueler?
A typical day for an Airport Fueler involves inspecting fueling equipment, driving specialized vehicles on the airfield, and safely refueling a variety of aircraft under strict time constraints. Fuelers coordinate closely with ground crews, flight dispatchers, and other airport personnel to ensure timely and accurate fueling services. The role often requires working outdoors in all weather conditions and sometimes during irregular hours or shifts to accommodate flight schedules. Attention to detail is key throughout daily operations to maintain strict safety standards and prevent fuel contamination. This dynamic environment offers valuable experience in aviation ground services and can provide potential pathways to supervisory or logistics roles within the industry.
