Job description

Position: Airport Business Manager
Department: Airport
Employment Status: Permanent, Full-time, Exempt
Compensation: Grade 7; Salary Range starting at $21.96/hour
Position Summary
The Airport Business Manager assists the Airport Director in administering the overall airport business operations within the established mission and goals. The incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and administration of assigned functions. The Airport Business Manager coordinates marketing campaigns and analyzes and coordinates office services, such as organizing & maintaining accurate financial records and reports and overseeing the grant management and budgeting processes.
Essential Duties - Knowledge - Skills - Abilities
  • Manage the day-to-day business operations of the Airport.
  • Coordinate efforts and activities between the airport and other departments, air carriers, contractors, and vendors to ensure compliance with FAA & TSA policies and regulations, Airport rules & regulations, and City ordinances.
  • Manage and oversee all financial operations of the Airport to include preparing the Airport/FBO and Airport Improvement operating budgets as well as all capital requests.
  • Assist in the preparation of minimum standards, airport operation directives, standard airport leases, operating agreements, and airport advertisements.
  • Operate the Airport security system and process applications for security badges including fingerprinting & submission of data for Security Threat Assessments, produce badges, and track & maintain a database for all badged individuals.
  • Process applications for security access keys and troubleshoot problems with keys and/or locks.
  • Coordinate marketing, advertising, and public relations efforts in conjunction with the City's Marketing & Communications staff.
  • Manage administrative practices such as recordkeeping systems, forms control, office layout, suggestion systems, personnel & budgetary requirements, and performance standards to create new systems or revise established procedures.
  • Track and process all grant reporting and reimbursement requests both internally and in the FAA Delphi system.
  • Act as a liaison with airport tenants; maintain lease agreements and issue monthly rental, utility, other necessary statements.
  • Ensure all third-party reporting is completed and submitted in accordance with various agreements, FAA, TSA, and the City, i.e., PFC quarterly reports, annual financial reports, annual grant reports.
  • Prepare and distribute meeting agendas and record, summarize, and/or transcribe minutes of meetings.
  • Participate in the interviewing and selection of new Airport and FBO employees.
  • Serve as the Acting Director, when the Airport Director is unavailable.
  • Serve as the Airport Security Coordinator and submit regulatory reports to TSA as required.
  • Serve as the Airport Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) liaison, the American with Disabilities (ADA) Section 504 Coordinator, and the Title VI Coordinator.
  • Serve as the Hanger Leasing Coordinator, overseeing all rentals and waiting lists, as well as processing all lease agreements.
  • Actively participate in various aviation-related organizations, including attending conferences, meetings, and training, as recommended by the Airport Director.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with Federal, City, and Airport policies, rules, and regulations.

  • Frequent requirement to sit, kneel, walk, talk, and listen to instructions.

Requirements
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Management, Business Management, Accounting, Finance or a related field.

Certification/License:
  • Valid Driver's License

Experience:
  • Four to six years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education & experience
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Accounting Systems, and other relevant programs

Other:
  • Must be able to pass a 10-year criminal history background check.
  • Must possess effective and efficient communication skills, both oral and written.
