Are you ready to take your skills to new heights? The Roanoke Regional Airport Commission is looking for a dedicated and hardworking individual to join our team as an Airport Maintenance Technician. Pay will be based on your skills, experience, and qualifications. This is more than just a job-it's an opportunity to play a critical role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and smooth operations of our airport.What You'll Do:As an Airport Maintenance Technician, you'll tackle a variety of important tasks that keep our airport running smoothly. Your responsibilities will include:Grounds Maintenance: Mowing, landscaping, planting, pruning, mulching, weeding, and maintaining fences.Paved Areas: Sweeping, repairing, and ensuring the safety of all paved surfaces, including airport runwaysEquipment Operation: Operating, fueling, and cleaning trucks, tractors, and other powered tools.Weather Response: Removing snow and ice during winter conditions.This position is primarily on the Airfield Maintenance team, however you will be cross-trained on some facilities maintenance to include:Building Repairs: Plumbing, painting, carpentry, masonry, and other facility maintenance tasks.Airfield Systems: Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, and lighting systems, as well as security gates and passenger loading bridges.This job involves working outdoors in all types of weather. This position is a day shift role but does requires one week of evening shifts and one weekend rotation every 7-8 weeks. The rotation is shared among the team, ensuring coverage while keeping the schedule fair and predictable.What We're Looking For:To succeed in this role, you should have:A High School diploma or equivalent.Hands-on experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, pavement maintenance or similar.
