Job Description:
As a Sr Network Planning Analyst, you'll help shape the flight schedules that connect Southwest's Customers to the people and places that matter most. In this highly visible role, you'll lead changes to the flight schedule after it has been published and made available for Customers to book-balancing commercial opportunities, operational constraints, and Customer impact to maximize revenue, profitability, and network performance. You'll evaluate complex scheduling decisions, identify opportunities to strengthen Southwest's competitive position, and collaborate across Network Planning, Revenue Management, Crew Planning, Ground Operations, and other Teams to deliver solutions that work for both the business and the operation. Beyond managing schedule changes, you'll help drive the future of Network Planning by developing analytical tools, dashboards, and optimization capabilities that support smarter, data-driven decision making. Through strategic thinking, technical expertise, and cross-functional leadership, you'll play a direct role in how Southwest plans, adjusts, and operates its network every day.

Responsibilities
  • Executes the revisions of the Southwest flight schedule through the production of high-quality inputs, managing constraints, identifying obstacles and recommending solutions, and ensures that all schedule initiatives are met
  • Executes the process of gathering schedule change requests/inputs/constraints from other departments, such as Network Planning, Crew Planning, Ground Operations, Operational Performance and Revenue Management
  • Executes the advanced execution of complex schedule changes including Demand Shaping, Available Fleet deployment, ASM adjustments, slot changes, etc.
  • Ensures that all schedule parameters are met, including market frequencies, physical gates, staffed gates, connecting bank structures, minimum turn times, block times, tow times, gate assignments, etc.
  • Evaluates commercial requests to determine the best way to achieve them without violating operational requirements and minimize the impact on already booked Customers
  • Performs complex, highly visible flight schedule revisions with guidance
  • Performs the highly visible and complex post-publication capacity changes including but not limited to demand shaping, available fleet deployment, ASM adjustments, international and domestic extra sections
  • Functions at an advanced level in schedule editing
  • Creates the checklist for each bi-weekly schedule revision to ensure that all revisions are documented and executed into all published schedules with zero defects
  • Creates the final schedules in preparation for schedule publication
  • Creates complex, highly visible flight schedule reporting in support of schedule revisions
  • Evaluates commercial requests to determine the best way to achieve them without violating operational requirements and minimize the impact on already booked Customers
  • Implements initiatives, improves processes and creates efficiencies to allow for quick turn schedule modifications
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods including alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction

Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED

Experience
  • Required: Advanced level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in:
    • Airline network planning including flight schedule alignment with commercial and operational impact, industry-leading capabilities, and aircraft scheduling techniques
    • Network Planning software systems and data
    • Impact of Network Planning systems/processes on downline internal/external systems/processes/Customers
    • Commercial and Operational performance metrics and targets
  • Preferred: Experience using data analytics, visualization, and reporting tools such as Alteryx, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Preferred: Experience supporting business strategy and decision-making through analytics, forecasting, optimization, and data-driven insights.
  • Preferred: Experience working in Revenue Management or a related analytical business function.
  • Preferred: Experience developing executive-level presentations and communicating complex information to senior leaders.

Pay & Benefits:
  • Competitive market salary from $93,950 per year to $104,400 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
