Position Summary

An Air Import Agent is responsible for coordinating and managing international air freight import shipments. This role ensures cargo is moved efficiently from origin to destination while complying with customs regulations, airline requirements, and company procedures. The agent serves as the primary point of contact for customers, airlines, customs brokers, and transportation providers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor air import shipments from arrival to final delivery.

  • Prepare, review, and process import documentation, including:

    • Air Waybills (AWBs)

    • Commercial Invoices

    • Packing Lists

    • Customs documentation

  • Communicate with airlines, ground handlers, customs brokers, trucking companies, and customers regarding shipment status.

  • Arrange cargo release, customs clearance, and inland transportation.

  • Track shipments and provide proactive updates to customers.

  • Verify shipment details and ensure accurate data entry into transportation management systems.

  • Resolve shipment delays, damages, discrepancies, and service issues.

  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, TSA requirements, and company policies.

  • Manage billing, invoicing, and cost control related to import shipments.

  • Maintain accurate shipment records and documentation.

  • Support customers with quotes, shipment inquiries, and service solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Experience in freight forwarding, logistics, supply chain, or air cargo operations preferred.

  • Knowledge of air freight import procedures and customs regulations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).

  • Experience with logistics software or CW1 (preferred).

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple shipments simultaneously.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of IATA regulations and airline cargo procedures.

  • Experience with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) processes.

  • Customer service and problem-solving skills.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment

  • Office-based logistics environment with frequent communication via phone and email.

  • May require occasional overtime, early morning, evening, or weekend coverage to support shipment arrivals and customer needs.

Pay Range: $57,000 ($27.40/hr) - $60,000 ($28.85/hr)*

*The stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary and may be adjusted based on market conditions, experience, and location. Final compensation will be discussed directly with the selected candidate(s) in compliance with all applicable laws.
