Part-Time Baggage Handler

Company: Huntleigh USA
Location: Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)
Position Type: Part-Time
Pay Rate: $17.13 per hour
Schedule: Shifts will vary. Open availability is required, including weekends and holidays.

Position Summary

The Baggage Handler is responsible for safely and efficiently handling passenger baggage at Washington Dulles International Airport. This position supports Huntleigh USA’s commitment to providing exceptional service to airline passengers while maintaining compliance with company, airline, airport, and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) safety and security requirements.

The ideal candidate is dependable, professional, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced airport environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Safely lift, load, unload, and transport passenger baggage to designated airport locations.

  • Assist passengers and airline personnel with placing baggage on and off conveyor belts at ticket counters and baggage claim areas.

  • Load baggage carts and transport luggage between designated areas as required.

  • Receive assignments and operational updates from airline personnel and supervisors.

  • Provide passengers and the public with courteous customer service, directions, and general information.

  • Follow airline and company procedures during irregular operations and special circumstances.

  • Complete required incident reports for accidents or unusual events.

  • Maintain professional conduct and comply with all uniform, safety, security, and operational standards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned based on business and operational needs.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and handle baggage weighing up to 75 pounds or more.

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.

  • Ability to squat, stoop, bend, reach, and maintain mobility throughout the workday.

  • Ability to work safely around baggage handling equipment and other airport operations.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent may be required based on location or contract requirements.

  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and follow verbal and written instructions in English.

  • Ability to successfully complete required background, security, and screening processes.

  • Must pass applicable pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screening requirements, including DOT or non-DOT screening when applicable.
