Job description

Total Aviation Staffing is hiring a Rotax Aircraft Mechanic for our client, a growing aviation organization supporting modern light sport aircraft used in flight training and advanced pilot development.

This role is ideal for an A&P Mechanic with hands-on experience maintaining piston aircraft, Rotax engine systems, and light sport aircraft platforms. You will support the safety, reliability, and readiness of a fleet of Tecnam light sport aircraft, helping ensure students, instructors, and pilots have dependable aircraft for daily training operations.

If you have experience with Rotax 912 engines, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-moving aviation maintenance environment, this is a strong opportunity to grow your career while supporting the next generation of aviation professionals.

What You’ll Do

As a Rotax Aircraft Mechanic, you will perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on light sport aircraft.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on Tecnam light sport aircraft.
  • Conduct 100-hour inspections, annual inspections, and preventive maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair Rotax 912 engine systems.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, fuel, cooling, and avionics-related issues.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, aircraft logbooks, and inspection documentation.
  • Coordinate parts ordering and support efficient inventory management.
  • Ensure maintenance work complies with FAA regulations, manufacturer guidance, and internal fleet maintenance standards.
  • Assist with aircraft recovery and AOG situations as needed.
  • Support aircraft readiness for flight training and pilot development operations.
  • Help develop maintenance procedures, reliability programs, and process improvements as the fleet grows.
What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is a dependable, hands-on aircraft mechanic who understands the importance of keeping training aircraft safe, compliant, and ready to fly. You should be comfortable troubleshooting mechanical and system issues, managing maintenance priorities, and working independently without needing constant supervision.

This role is a strong fit for someone who takes pride in clean maintenance work, accurate documentation, and solving aircraft issues before they become bigger problems. Because in aviation, “we’ll figure it out later” is not exactly a maintenance strategy.

Required Qualifications
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant Certificate.
  • Experience maintaining piston aircraft with Rotax engines.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing Rotax 912 engine systems.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage maintenance schedules effectively.
  • Ability to maintain accurate aircraft records, logbooks, and maintenance documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience maintaining Tecnam aircraft.
  • Experience with light sport aircraft or flight school aircraft maintenance.
  • Familiarity with 100-hour inspections, annual inspections, and preventive maintenance.
  • Experience supporting flight training operations or high-utilization aircraft.
  • Familiarity with FAA maintenance regulations and manufacturer maintenance manuals.
  • Experience handling AOG support, aircraft recovery, and parts coordination.
Why This Role Stands Out

This is a great opportunity for an A&P Mechanic who wants to work with modern light sport aircraft in a hands-on aviation maintenance environment.

This opportunity offers:

  • Competitive pay of $30.00 – $50.00 per hour
  • Work on Tecnam light sport aircraft
  • Hands-on experience with Rotax 912 engine systems
  • Opportunity to support flight training and pilot development
  • Involvement in fleet reliability and maintenance process improvement
  • Growing aviation environment with meaningful day-to-day impact
Benefits and Perks

This opportunity includes:

  • Competitive hourly pay
  • Health insurance
  • Vision insurance
  • Dental insurance
  • Paid Time Off
  • Opportunity to grow within aviation maintenance and flight training operations
