Lead Space Systems Software Engineer (Peterson SFB)
Serve as the principal Computer Science and Technical Authority delivering local, organic software engineering support for critical Space Systems Program Offices at Peterson Space Force Base. In this high-impact role, you will hold end-to-end project management and execution responsibility, guiding and evaluating the design and development activities of engineering teams securing our national interests in space.
What you will accomplish:
- Frontier Mission Impact: Directly support the vital software systems that power the United States Space Force and protect critical orbital assets and satellite constellations.
- Recognized Technical Authority: Act as the premier Computer Science expert for the organization, driving engineering success, evaluating complex designs, and shaping local software strategies.
- End-to-End Leadership: Own your projects from concept to execution, exercising both hands-on technical guidance and strategic project management.
- Technical Project Leadership: Drive the comprehensive planning, execution, and operational success of assigned software development and systems integration projects.
- Design & Development Oversight: Guide, evaluate, and mentor other engineers and developers across multiple phases of the software development lifecycle.
- Organic Space Systems Support: Partner directly with Peterson SFB Space Systems Program Offices to deliver rapid, local software engineering and sustainment capabilities.
- Strategic Advisory: Recommend innovative technologies, methodologies, and engineering practices to optimize software architectures and mission readiness.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Obtain & maintain a security clearance
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft
- Designated as a Non-Critical Acquisition Position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP)
- Obtain and maintain Cyberspace certification

2. Knowledge of the principles of planning, program management, and standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.
4. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization.
5. Ability to research, evaluate, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures to a variety of situations and to recommend timely and economical solutions.
